Ohh that's what callen was talking about.. fender bars. I get what your saying, never been a fan of the look of that setup though. Would rather have them get hit here and there. It would be kinda cool if I had a tube roller then I would do that and put it inside the fender to back it up but still be totally hidden

Hardo Freight only a$150 includes 5 different dies. And works fairly well too.

so last week i started the cage and it was turning out like crap so i scrapped what i had done and got a harbor freight tube roller and the swag off road upgrade for it. should be here next week so i can start rolling tube. the tacoma body is just so curvy that to make the cage hug the body is had to be rolled. it starts looking really weird with a lot of small degree bends.
also ordered all the rear brake line stuff should be here next week. in the mean time to try and keep this thing going i finished installing 3 of the 4 rocks lights. the last one will be in the back once im done with the tube work. they turned out really slick, and really bright. i dont think there gonna get taken out by a rock any time soon or else i wouldn't have done it like that but who knows. its possible and will eventually over time happen but only time will tell. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Do you always one up yourself? Because I have never seen an undercarriage pimped out with rocklights like that.
Nothing else to say besides great work man, Keep it up. Sent from my Droid

i beg to differ judging by how much he babied his last rig and that was a 85'. its not a bad thing, and im not talking shit it. theres nothing wrong with that. the last thing id want to do is put all this time/money into a truck and then destroy it in 1 season (6-7 trips) especially one thats 17 years newer than the last. hopefully this is done so we can hit the trail in 7 weeks.

first off i didnt baby my last rig.. i did care for it though, and it was my only vehicle so that was always a concern. it just wasn't setup to hit the box without getting clapped out. i knew my limits, and that also was when i was 19 and fresh to wheelin. you can speculate my 'wheeling' style all you want but i assure you im not building a truck this built to cruise the trails. personally that would be a big waste of time and money.
you guys have to realize the clean built, 'bling' shit has nothing to do with how im gonna wheel it. thats just how i think and build stuff. just cuz i build clean stuff doesn't mean its meant to stay perfect. im not gonna be an idiot with this truck but im gonna have fun wheelin it. i like to challenge myself wheeling a trail as much as i like to challenge myself building the truck, so with that said i think you'd be surprised. it just annoys me when people try and speculate how im gonna wheel it when they dont even know what their talking about. edit- a clean rig that gets wheeled hard is my ultimate goal.

ya i fully agree. getting beat up over the years doesn't bother me. i dont like broken stuff on a rig. like grills, lights, windows, that kind of stuff should be fixed when destroyed. but getting 'used' is what i plan on doing. im not even worried about it. everything on this truck is replaceable so its not the end of the world. that was kinda my point about the fenders. if i wanted them to not get touched i would have protected them to the extreme but im not even worried about a fender. im 100% ok with this truck having the 'gets wheeled' look. but that look can also still look clean. iv seen numerous rigs that have damage that still look really good.

![]() Just as long as it doesn't wind up looking like Callen's ghetto stationwagon or Kyul1234's junk it's all good! (obviously I'm kidding......... about Callen's rig )You are putting in some serious work on this thing and it's going to be really nice, even if it has some "Character" after it gets wheeled!

Id hate to see it get trashed in a season like I was saying. Your goal was mine and it worked. It doesnt work forever but I think it did. Ive tried to keep mine in good shape for as long as i can/could. at this point though its been well on the down hill for the last 3 years and I dont care to much anymore. Not bad for almost 10 years of owning it. Thats whats cool about these newer parts we put in our trucks, you can bump stuff way harder and not worry about a chunder bearing going out, a front r/p letting go, or steering falling off.

ya i hear you, every truck and driver is different though. having a cage is gonna be really helpful on keeping this truck looking good. bed sides and fenders are easily replaceable down the road.

progress pics of the start of the cage, after wasting lots of time and tube, im finally starting to get the hang of it. got the back of the cab done. tube roller is working awesome, still needs a few mods though to make it better.

While I can appreciate the skill necessary to make your tubework symmetrical and on point following the body lines, there is so much that just doesnt flow with the rest of the truck to make the lack of visibility out the back worth a fuck.
Just my .02 Sweet rock light setup.
