Plus theres plenty of weld left below the grind. The inside yube acts like a backup bar on a structural full pen weld. WAY stronger than just throwing a bead over butted tubing ends..
Basically, matts building something that not only looks sweet, but he also knows what hes doing with a weld machine and uses proper techniques in his fabrication. Gold star for matt hes got form and function going into this rig. Ud expect to see this kinda stuff on a trained fabricator, not some self taught garage builder.

iv been so busy at work i literally havent had much of any time to work on the truck, we are getting walnuts in on monday so my days have been long trying to finish making everything at work for this season.
i did manage to finish the bed sides/rear bumper. next will be mounting the coilovers and bumps. i was gonna do more tubing from the top of the cage to the bed sides to give it that aggressive look... but im actually really liking how its looking as is so im not doing that anymore. hopefully ill have this thing on its own weight some time soon. took about 7" out of the front and 7.5" out of the rear portion of the bed. the rear bumper tubing was all sleeved with 1.5" tubing so it will be pretty strong and dent resistant. then i capped it with some 3/16s plate. ill be putting 2 more of the rocks lights i made on top of the plate on each side. the paint jobs just gonna have to work for now. as long as it looks decent then im ok with it. i dont wanna spend hella money to get them re painted professionally. i got a few quotes for 600$ for just the bed sides so i said f that, and rattle canned it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That turned out great! Rattle can job looks fine IMO. Those corners are gonns get banged up anyhow once u wheel it a bunch...
I do think it needs a pair of tubes coming off the 'B' pillar down diagonally to the mid area or 2/3rds into the bed rail tubes area or similar

You have no triangulation between the frame rails and bedsides. Once you mount the coilovers/bumps, that will put more force on those members and try to fold them like a parallelogram. Mount your coilovers/bumps, then brace as necessary.

I'd vote for some down tubes from the rear of the cage to the framerails, & tie those into the bedsides. You're skilled enough to make it look sick, plus it'll provide much more strength for the coilovers & for rollover protection. Then you can make a rack across the top of it for all your extra "plugs".
