Hey guys,

I have been wrenching quite a bit but bad about updating

Here's the latest:

I got super sick of the 22re being such a dog:

so I found a 3.4 out of a 96 T100 with only 75k miles on it!

I had a hell of a time with my exhaust cross over because I was using an R150 trans with a driver side slave cylinder. Squeezing the exhaust through w/o hitting the firewall, frame or slave was interesting. Since I had to make the engine a drivers side exhaust anyways, I was up for the challenge.

I put an oil PSI and coolant temp gauge in to make sure the engine is running healthy.

I also put the ECU in the glove box and wired in an OBD port so I can log data wirelessly with my 20 dollar amazon.com code reader thingy:

SO here it is:

Open element air filter is not my ideal choice but I tubbed my fenders for my 40's a while ago and the stock airbox wouldn't fit.

Here is the fun of squeezing the exhaust through with a R150

I put both o2 sensors in but did the resistor mod on the rear so I don't get a MIL for a PO420

I could use my existing driveshafts, t-case cross members and skid w/just minor re-drilling:

This is where the shifters end up with the R150, adapter, then duals:

3.4L fan, 3.0L radiator, 3.0 shroud

Had to get the 2wd oil pan and pickup tube:

pushed as far back as I could get it:

Oh and most importantly:

Engine fit under the hood fine until I added the blower, then it hit:

If anyone has any questions at all about how to do a 3.4 swap, or anything I've done please feel free to ask!

Wow... that's a lot of work you did there to get that 3.4 in. It would be awesome to have the power of the V6 but it sure seems like it would take some thinking through to get it right. Anyways nice work and I like how the crawler looks.

Thanks guys! Honestly the swap isn't so bad. I was worried mostly about the wiring and it was easy once I got the right wiring diagrams.

As far as power, it is fast as hell. It will spin 40" tires no problem from a stop....but I don't want to blow up my 8" R&P yet lol. I haven't figured my fuel economy yet, but now that I have it running right I am getting more than double the mileage out of it than I was with my 22re.

Looks good! I may have missed it, but what did you do for motor mounts? I will be doing the exact same swap soon.

I used the mounts that came with the 3.4 on the actual engine, then on the frame, made some similar versions to the 22re mounts but out of 1/4" and welded em on. I will snap a pic next time I think of it.

If you can't find your wiring diagram on here:
http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/index.html
you can pay like 15 bucks for a day to get on toyota's tech website and print off everything you need.

X2! I wish I would have done that swap instead of rebuilding my gutless 22re.
