thanks alot. i kinda just copied other ideas and tried to improve where i could Moved the axle forward quite a bit. pretty stoked. i made a big crazy trade and ditched the roached 38's with street locks and ended up with a bunch of parts including these 35's with good tread mounted on the black steelies, along with this warn 9000lb winch, a wood rack, gears, lockers, and some other stuff. ![]() and some other good stuff ![]() my pinion angle is quite clearly funked from the 63's and the way i set up my shackle hanger/rear crossmember. ![]() scavenged these off the 4runner. so i'll combine half of the rear ubolt fipkit (came on the truck) and the the passenger side half of a front flip kit that came off the 4runner (it was missing the driver's side u-bolts/spring plate) and viola. i'll have a complete front flip kit and and these u-bolt-less perches in the rear. should fix the pinion angle issue ![]() ![]() filled the holes that were punched in the frame so i could attempt to have a clean, fully welded seam along the holes in the brace. ![]() I used c-clamps and c-channel in an attempt to prevent distortion. ![]() ![]() i plan on filling the 1/8" gap between the frame and hanger with silicon to seal it off and prevent rust

also salvaged these off of the 4runner but i dont think i'll end up using them. i want to get ahold of a bender and make some that sit about 1/2" or so under the hood so i can run some big ass shocks.
cleaned up, sand blasted, and painted ![]() mock up. dont like it. also ordered a flat pitman arm ![]() some notes tryin to figure out the flat-bed compartments ![]() i've been borrowing this thing from my uncle and it has been really temperamental. its pretty old and funky but works good most of the time when it wants to cooperate. a few times it has gotten stuck full throttle with the wire speed acting like it was maxed out( when it was set pretty slow) and doesnt stop until turned off. totally pisses me off. then the wire feed motor quit workin for some reason. but she's goin again

dicked around with this for a while and built a few front driveshafts
![]() before going this route ![]() i was using the loader of my kabota to flex out the rear suspension and the tire slipped off. first body damage doing nothing cool ![]() and some poser shots trying to figure out how things are workin. the suspension doesn't work very well being so light in the back. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() she wouldnt do it going forward without atleast an ice chest in the back for weight.

i thought it would be a good idea to cut and notch the driver's side shock hoop so i would have enough clearance to remove the master cylinder. no room ![]() ![]() ![]() plenty of room ![]()

though while i was at it i'd heat the hoop and make a little dent to add a little extra clearance between it and steering u-joint

thanks man. i've been using a chop saw and an angle grinder with 1/16" cutting wheels and flapper pads for almost everything. i haven't used a torch or plasma cutter at all (except to heat and bend material.) sometimes hack with the sawzall too. i usually do the final prep on all my cuts and joints and everything with the flapper pad. makes it sexy smooth

well, i recently picked up a used set of 38's on a set of beadlocks. i'm thinkin i'm gonna have to invest in some chromoly axle shafts and birfs sooner than later.
![]() Besides that, I took her on her first maiden voyage away from home. went campin over the weekend along the coast and a little bit into the sticks. i didnt really do any serious wheelin, just cruisin around more or less. i was plannin on fishin but the creeks were almost all dry. i tried to fill up on propane before i skipped town but the station said it was too late at night. so i tried to make it but ended up running really low on fuel half way through the weekend. ended up hitch hiking 150 miles round trip with an empty tank to get fuel. other than that, she ran like a champ. and i had plenty of fuel to explore the rest of the weekend and make it home. i put the 35's back on for the trip ![]() ![]() ![]() cats ![]() ![]() the flat bed isn't quite finished. i'll post some pics of it soon |
