86 toyota 22rte build

so I bought a 86 Toyota pick up 4x4 reg cab. It sat from 96 to 2006 it was rebuilt it 06 and sat again until 2012 until I drove it and bought it. It had this cowboy cab on it. I had to take that off right away. That Thing looked crazy! when I really started looking at it there was allot things that needed fixing. Most of it basic from sitting so long and not being used; like electrical issues, hoses things like that.Had to replace plugs, wires, fuel filter water pump, fan clutch, idler bearing, and power steering pump; While I was doing that I installed a better power steering cooler. I dropped the tank to take a look at the condition of it and it was pretty nasty. when I was disconnecting the fuel line I found a wd-40 red straw and when i got to the pump I found something that I couldn't believe. As if the straw wasn't enough. I found a fuel pump with wire screen mesh and bailing wire holding it on the pump acting as a sock. (I just don't understand some people)so I changed it of course. I am installing leather 94 Toyota Camry wagon seats. I have one done I just have to clean up the brackets and paint it.

The dash is tan. Its that camo tan stuff from Kragen, And the cooler is a transmission cooler from Kragen. Its a hayden, cost was around 26 i beleave. If you got to kragen ask for the for somthing big enough to act as powersteering cooler. Luckly the parts guy wasnt a dumb ass. The lines that come with it are a bit short, so I bought a little extra line from Kragen as weland the hole with some door trim I had lying around. Not sure how well it will work on trail. But I'm confident it will work fine. More fluid equals easy dissipation of heat. Anything is better than that paper clip crap.

Going over to in laws house for a barbecue. Your way of checking valve clearance was much easier. Couple of the valves were a little tight. Runs a little better now. Guy from school is getting me some tank sealer. I am Thinking that there is shit clogging up the sock. Hopefully that will take care of my bucking, hesitating issue. dropping the tank again

It's tan. I was doin rounds in the local u- pull it.
Saw the seats, and it was love at first sight you can make anything work with a little cutting and welding.

Got a weird whining sound coming from oil pump. Going to take that off in a couple days to see what's up

you prob can salvage the front cover, pull it and use a very fine file or fine sandpaper wrapped around a thick piece of flat metal or glass. need new pump though, that looks like a typical american pump after 100 miles

i got a new pump from ENGBLDER. the pump that fraged was a Toyota pump: i have never seen anything like it. i checked a bearing. it looked good. going to sand the cover a bit. should be fine. if the engine blows at some point; i will just throw a 3.4 in it

It turned out great. Sorry about the late reply. I was thinking about changing the build thread title..egh! fawk it. There was no scarring on the bearings though, I got lucky. I am going to get her smogged on monday. Then its a bed bob, and sliders. Just because i can and i have the materials. After that i am not sure. Im still toying with the idea of tons or yota sas. I all ready have a 14bolt. Problem is money of coarse. I can build a yota sas cheaper and have fun. But if anyone wants to sponsor me I will build it. A goal of mine is to run koh in stock class at some point. .

Glad you got that bad pump outta there. Nice rig... What the hell is a cowboy cab? Is that like a mini canopy? Looks like a shed. It sure is ugly.

Lol Yup she got traded her for another. A 1990 4runner sr5. Up front she has toyota rear leaf Dana 60 king pin stock 4:56 and ballistic high stear. dual 23 spline top shift transfer cases and Dana 70 rear with Chevy leaf spring. A few WFO ITEMS and arb air compressor attached to nothing. Engine is running like shit but I wil fix her up to get it by. Then i will do a 3.4 swap
