TrailCreeper Crawl box issue.

Ok so i recently came over to the dark side and purchased a fairly built 86 toyota. It has a TG TrailCreeper crawl box, the low range works great if i have the tcase in 4Low but any other range it pops itself into neutral, now my brother has the marlin crawler crawl box but he can run his in low range in 2WD-4H-4L so is the TG box capable of doing so and if so how would i go about setting it up like that, also im running a W56 trans with a top shift gear drive tcase

Thanks.

Alright thanks ill check the detent springs and pick up those parts sometime this week from a local shop that deals a lot of marlin stuff. Hopefully that fixes things, its not a big issue but i figure if i can have low range in 2WD and 4HI as well i want it.

x3 your problem lies in the detent springs. And the TG crawl box works fine if it's put together correctly, it will do everything that that MC box will do. Been running TG cases/guts for 5 years no problems.

While I am going to say yes to the detent springs and that is the first thing I would change, sometimes something may be wrong on the inside. That is what was wrong with mine when I got it from Marlin years ago.

No one has said there is anything wrong with TG's cases, quit trying to stir up crap.

I'm trying to remember which shift rail you have to trim down in the transfer case when you install the crawl box. If the rail wasn't trimmed, would it cause his concern?

Yeah on some t-cases the rails make contact. Which when both are in low works fine but when the rear box is pulled into high it pops the front box into neutral. But i can't see it making it pop out of gear once engaged.

yea ill give the instructions a look over......as for detent springs the hole where the instructions say to put detent ball and spring was empty as i just had the whole assembly and transmission out to replace a clutch that the previous owner FUBAR'd....some people should not be allowed to do work on vehicles.
