156 ft-lbs and 40 hp? That seems a little odd?

For any kind of real comparison the same Dyno must be used. The difference from dyno to dyno can be huge. Almost a 100 hp difference on my dodge between 2 different dynos with the same set up.

Dynos are great for tuning and seeing gain, but comparing #'s from different dynos isn't that accurate.

But I'm still curious what your #'s were. I also run a 22rtp

Everyone that's saying stuff about the differences. Also has to remember 1st or 3rd or 4th run can vary alot on the same dyno. I'm still amazed at how close they were between the 35's and 39.5's

I called my local speed shop and found a proforamce shop that will do a chassis dyno. It will cost $85 and take an hour

So this is a list of Toyota engines and their stock flywheel #s

22r 96 hp @ 4800 rpm & 129 tq @ 2800 rpm

22re 112 hp @ 4600 rpm & 142 tq @ 3400 rpm

22rte 135 hp @ 4800 rpm & 173 tq @ 4800 rpm 6 lbs boost

2rz 142 hp @ 5000 rpm & 160 tq @ 4000 rpm

3rz 150 hp @ 5000 rpm & 177 tq @ 4000 rpm

So remember these are all #s for new engines at the flywheel.

This is the lowdown on Krunch

Engine type: Junkyard 22re

Compression: 9.0:1

Mechanical mods: Supra TB, 3" exhaust with Morriso free flow spiral muffler, Dual transfer cases, 35" and 39.5" tires, with 5:29 gears

Garret T-3 turbo on propane 7psi boost

Tuning: Mechanical distributor and timing set at 10*

Dyno type: Dyno Dynamics

Hp and Tq: 35" tires 113 Hp and 138 Tq Stopped at 4600 rpm
39.5" tires 116 Hp and 130 Tq Stopped at 4600 rpm

Dyno run on Krunch - YouTube

So I figure at around 70 hp (most rigs seem to be in this area) that would give me a extra 40 hp and 30 tq. This is of course a very, very rough estimate.

That would put Krunch in the 2 and 3rz power output ballpark.

Numbers are awesome and your truck sounds tits

Out of curiosity though, at what $ ballpark are you sitting at going from a stock RE to where you are now?

Versus say a 2-3rz swap setting one back on average $1500. Where as myself nearly free.

I really dont know. So much of my stuff was acquired from wheeling, dealing, and parting out trucks.

Got Propane kit = $775

Turbo (got from Carey as well, full rebuilt and customized) $5 to $7 hundred? (I really dont remember someone else chime in and correct me?)

Stock turbo manifold (dont remember but used are not hard to find)

Oil and water plumbing stuff 1 to 2 hundred in the end

Exhaust got most all of it from exhaust shops scrap bins so $5 here $10 there

I bet the cost is the same or more.....a lot depends on what you have available to you at the time

The big difference between a turbo and a rz swap is when pointed uphill the turbo doesn't fall off. Mine will burn all 4 tires into a hillside without stalling out the motor.
A lot of questions are out there about these. I am thinking about starting a thread about it but would ask guys to ask questions in the thread instead of each individual calling to discuss. I dyno'd mine years ago at UTI. Single t case, smaller tires, way fresher motor than it is now with around 15psi (maybe a little more) boost it made 179hp and over 200 torque! Maybe more boost than that. They don't live long at that kind of boost levels with stock pistons. It crushes the top ringland, seizing the top ring.

I'm not opposed to a turbo at all, I'd love to setup my RZ with one however I've never felt my motor stalls at any incline and seems to pull very well out of any lug situation I put it in.

I have a question about the turbo pane universe. for carey or anybody else who can give me a definitive answer.

Can a turbo pane set up to be blow through, as in turbo before the pane mixer.

ive been looking for awhile and most everybody in the toy world does draw through, as in pane before turbo. (from what ive seen, i may have missed a thread)

the reason for me wanting to do it blow through is being able to run a BOV and intercooler. i could probly run the intercooler with a draw through set up but i would rather run a BOV with the system.
it wont be a high boost set up.
just makes me feel better about the life span of everything.
any information will help. i can move this to careys turbo pane thread if needed but i didnt see that he has or has not made one yet.
thanks much

So if I can consistantly beat 80% of the field with 80 horse power, Just think what I could do with 300 .

Well, i will have to go back, he was having trouble. Its hard to see but the HP was under 50 and the torque was 270 ish. That was a scary ride on that dyno with 36" bias swampers.
