Just got back from the MCR and had to be towed out from the slabs on sun. Truck ran fine sat. night as i towed someone up to the top of the slabs, then sun. it just wouldnt start.
Checked fuel- had pressure on the motor side before it went into the injectors. Sprayed starting fluid down the airbox and it would start, but would die once the starting fluid was gone. As I got dragged down thru gatekeeper, my bro had to keep spraying starting fluid down the box to keep me running so i could make it thru (aka..sam patton style). As soon as i reached my trailer, the damn thing started right up. I still have to find some time to go thru the truck and double check everything (clogged fuel filter, fuel pump, loose ground, etc...), but anyone have any other ideas?? motor is a 98 3.4 tacoma

I know it's not a clogged fuel filter. Atleast not if it's an intermitent problem.
If you've got constant fuel pressure then it's also not the pump. Good luck.

It would have been easier to troubleshoot if i still had the problem. I figure its not a bad pump or filter. It also ran with starting fluid, so i figure the ignition system is all good.
The pisser is that now everything is fine on the rig and it runs fine. I just dont want to be waaaay back there and have it happen again. Even a friend that was w/ us and know his toys was pretty damn stumped.

Chuck- check you grounds. Make sure they are in good condition. I had a start/no start problem with my EB and it turned out to be the bolt that the ground cable was mounted to had come loose. Simple fix after I replaced the started in 6 feet of snow! Burrr!!
I know it's not the same problem as yours but I learned to check the simple stuff first. Good luck man!

Hey Chuck, my 84/85 did the same thing to me, my problem was the fuel level, were you posibly low on gas or at an extreme angle? If the pump sucks air it will give you pressure at the fuel rail, but the pump will shut down. Mine only dod it once, and i can't get mine to do it again either. By the way, when the hell are you coming to get this 85 frame???
