Ok I have some bad news to report. As of 9AM this morning, Marlin is swamped with work due to losing one of his employees and overbooking his time and won't be able to go to the MCR event. From what I gathered, he had 1 16V engine,3 trannys, and some T-cases to build along with many other things before the weekend. Many of those items are for people so they can make the MCR event.
Now he is going to be trying as hard as possible to get finished in time, but it doesn't look good. Here is one thing you guys can help out with. Try not to call him if possible. He talks way too much and doesn't get stuff done, so please hold off until after the MCR if possible. Also, he is looking for a new mechanic desperately. If you know someone who is a Toyota ready mechanic and is looking for a job in Fresno right now, let him know. Serious workers only of course. Sorry for the bad news, but hopefully he will catch up to make the event. This would be like going to a wedding without seeing the bride and groom there. If he can't make it, the event will still go on. -Sam [ 08-15-2001: Message edited by: Sam ]

Yeah it totally sucks. He is going to call me later in the day to give me an update of where he is at with work. Most likely he is taking on more work as we speak. I don't know how to help him out anymore to get him there.
Oh well, we will see. -Sam

If he needs help in 6 years after I retire from the Army I will move to Fresno. I was there in May when G.W. was visiting California and Fresno seemed like a great city. I didn't realize Marlin's shop was there until after I left.

You guys seem to have the same problem we have in OZ - the guys who make Awsome gear just can't get their act together.one man show make great prodct but can't be secretary and urban legend.
Here is a solution I had for a mate and it has worked great for the last 3 months. Locked the doors - tell people the phone will only be answered between certain hours of the day say 4-6pm - or email this way he can reply ant time to the person wanting to know how their stuff is going. I have never met or spoke with the man, but I bet he is a talker, only you that have spoke to him will know. You ring for a quick how long, ten minutes later your still talking ?hit. Sam, tell Marlin that Sebastian from Flex 4WD could probably make some time on Friday to jam down there and help him by putting together some t-cases if he wants.
Just a little way to try and help. |

Hey guys,
Marlin has had two really really sh!tty weeks. Last week, he was supposed to leave for Sierra Treck on Wednesday afternoon. Well, I worked with him until 1:30am Saturday morning. He had to finish about 4 transmissions that day (Friday). He came home, took a shower, and then him and his wife drove 7 hrs. to Sierra treck to attend the last day(they had paid for all days). Today, we had two people call us up who need their rigs rebuilt in order to make the MCR, so we are going to help them out instead. I am pretty sure that he will make it. He is just so stressed out. Alot of people are pissed at him and call us up and hang up. Also, people from other companies who sell our old product instruct their customers to call Marlin up for technical questions and installation questions. This is nice for the other company because they do not have to spend any money for customer support, but then we spend alot of time on the phone entertaining people who are not our customers so that these other businesses can get caught up with their work. I know this is not a Bitching board, and that's not what I'm doing, I am informing whoever is reading this as to why Marlin is so busy. I will personally see to it that Marlin makes it to the round-up. Another big problem is that we just fired an employee, and I am leaving next week for College, so we are going to be without 4 hands now. So, if you see our webpage, you will notice that we are looking for someone to work for us full time. Anyways, have a nice day and we hope to see you at the Round-Up! Regards, BigMike

If AllPro tells them to call Marlin for an answer on a tech Q. about a Marlin adaptor or gear set, then whats wrong with that? If AA tells them to call Marlin for tech support on an AA Copy of Marlin's old designthan AA needs a talkin' too!! <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

I missed the "old style" qualifier in BigMike's first post, and if that's the case, then maybe Marlin needs to tell AA not forward THIER tech support to him. Hard to do, but sometimes NICE doesn't help anyone but the guy indirectly screwing YOU!!

At All Pro we have an experienced dual case expert our shop, Jay King. Jay has built all of out dual cases for the last 3 years. He is happy to answer questions about both AA and Marlin adapters regardless of where the adapter was purchased. [ 08-15-2001: Message edited by: Chris Geiger ] |

I personally think it is bullshit for people to be selling the Marlin Crawlers as their own product in the first place. The AA adapter plates are still stamped "Marlin Crawler." If they, (or anyone else), is going to sell them aside from Marlin either take his name off of the adapter plate and don't expect tech time from him or buy the damn thing from him! Believe me it's worth the extra $$$ for the additional parts you get, the double roller bearing and most of all...KILLER CUSTOMER SERVICE! You get what you pay for.
