my 93 all of a sudden has no power. when i step on the gas it just bogs down and takes a very long time for the rpms to rise. idles very rough and back fires when i step on the gas. already checked distributor, put in new plugs, new plug wires, tried to clean the throttle body but could need to be taken apart its still kind of dirty inside. thought mabye a vaccum leak but haven't been able to find one. any ideas.
Check the intake boot for tears. Air getting in behind the mass air sensor will make the truck run like poo, and it wont throw a code either.
BTW, it doesnt need to be a large tear, so check it good.
today i replaced the fuel filter and checked the fuel pump. checked the codes and it came up as air fuel mixture lean. also tested the volume air flow meter. still no improvement.
i had a mouse get in the timing belt cover :shaking: and cause the belt to jump on the pasangers band. ran like crap, no codes, no power, slow throttle response, but timing checked out ok. what a frigin mess.
also not sure what year they changed but the early 3.0 tension pulley sucks compared to the later version (mine is a 90 and my buddies was a 94) we always had problems getting the belt tight enough with mine and had the belt jump because of that after the mouse episode.
