just rebuilt it (85 4runner efi 4 banger ) idles good but wide open on the interstate its sluggish and burnig fuel fast no getty up if you know what i mean ) any help would be great
its got 125 mile on the new rebuild it runs good but has a few bugs to work out.
its not idling right it idles up and down alot i messed with the timing a little bit but not sure if thats the problem.
uhhhh, not enough cylinders? Sorry, no he's right about the low compression. Make sure you do a good break in, including winding it up (gradually) and letting compression slow you back down. Forces the rings to seat.
On the idle thing, is it quickly cycling: like a second of gas, then cut, over and over? I seem to remember mine doing that when I had a sensor or something unplugged...
i took it for a long drive today it ran much better and got excellent gas milage . it does idle down still almost like its going to die then it picks back up still tinkering with it so wish me luck and thanks for the help.
