Thanks, I am restoring a 1st gen and I am pretty sure there is a small lift (1-2") on the truck. I am just trying to figure out how much. It's nice to see a rig that is not all cut up....keep it nice!

OK, measured from the bottom of the frame to the ground at a spot below the door handle- 19". Stock tire is a HR78/15, measures 28" in diameter. My approx. half worn 31's are actually 30" in diameter. hope this helps.

I bought a 79 SR5 off of an original owner in NJ a couple years ago. It was totally rotted out, but he swore it was one of the first 500 4x4's in the country. Funny story he told me was when he originally talked to a salesman about the truck obviously none were on the lot. The salesman told him about the particulars and showed him pics using the pamphlets dealers had available. He decided to buy it going off the pics, but only on the agreed upon price. The salesman said no problem, but when it arrived he told him it would be $1000 more than the price. The buyer said he was pissed, but the salesman said he'd give hime his deposit back, and told him he had a list longer than his arm of people who would buy it. 4Wheeler mag apparently really boosted sales on the truck comparing it to the Chevy Luv which wasn't even in the same league.
Anyway, the truck was yellow with the same stripe kit pictured in the $12k post. It didn't have a plaque on the dash (guess it wasn't a LE). I bought it as a parts truck, but I still have the window sticker. Can anyone tell the build date by the vin#? I'll get it next week. It's at my fathers bodyshop.

I don't think he had any reason to lie considering I bought the truck for $300. I def. believe the part about the dealer driving up the price. May have been misinformed?? I'll get the window sticker next week.

#1 79 Toyota 4x4
Yup 20R, 4 speed, 119,095 miles, bought it in Mission Viejo a week ago, took the guy a few days to produce the plate. Not sure what you mean by PMing the VIN, give me a heads up on that. Needs parts and rust repair, paint ect...needs new dash and bucket seats...any direction on where to find parts would be helpful. Making movie about this truck.

Such a lucky find!!! Wow!! You are a very lucky person. Way too fuckin' cool. I would never in a million years have guessed #1 was still out there.
