Good place to start, clean that up.
Are you saying when the backup lights and brake lights are on together, it kills the fuse?

Try new bulbs. Sometimes the filaments are loose and cause funny things.

hmm ok in my first post i lied, i think it has everything to do with the backups haha. usually it would let me back up abit ebfore diying but now 3 out of 3 times i only put the truck into reverse and i hear the fuse blow and my dash lights flicker then dim abit. so im pretty sure i have narrowed it down to the back up lights and those crappy extra abckups that are on it. any ideas from yuo guys what top check besides exposed cables bad ground and bulbs?? oh and thanks for the replies

1984 Toyota, Engine Control Module, Emission Control, 89550-35280, 22R, California

Looking for the pinout on 1984 Toyota truck, specifically for the ECM / Engine Control Module / Emission Control computer, PN 89550-35280, 22R, California version. Engine bay fuse and relay block diagrams would also be helpful.

I've looked throughout the Pirate Board, Yotatech, Toyota Nation, and elsewhere. There are manuals and pinouts for most Toyota trucks [I]but not the '84![I] I am looking at dropping $100 to get one, but I'm about there.

xxxtreme22r posted this, and it's very helpful. It doesn't match my truck 100%, I'm finding:

http://www.yotatech.com/f120/wiring-.../#post51670679

This is the 21 pin Emission Control Computer, PN 89550-35280 (22R, California):

This is the wiring harness for the 1984 Toyota truck's emission control computer, 21 pin:

This is the 21 pin harness interface:

Thanks , any help is really appreciated.

1984 Toyota Truck 22R FSM

dirtchicken, I've got the '85 FSM. It doesn't work for my '84. Perhaps it works for others' '84s...

There is this nice link to different Factory Service Manuals - many of '85 Toyota truck Factory Service Manuals online probably come from this site:
http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/index.html

There is the Toyota Tech Info System, but it's for 1990 Toyotas and later only.
https://techinfo.toyota.com/techInfo...m%2Findex.html

Maybe I'll be that guy who puts a 1984 toyota Truck-specific manual online after a day of scanning it all in...

Still looking for '84 Truck 21-pin ECM pin out

Here 's good info for an '85 4Runner, Engine Fuse Block detail:

http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/4R_TechI...tml#Electrical

It is not the same, though, as a 1984 truck's engine fuse block.

Here's mine:

Compare the differences. My '84 has the pink fuse (30A) and the yellow fuse is a 60A. The "Main" relay is the main engine relay (PN 9098704002) - those are perhaps the same, not sure. The relay that's labeled "CMH - Fuel Heater" (CMH = Cold Mixture Heater) on the '85 4Runner is (on my '84) relay PN 85931-354010, the emissions control relay.

I don't know if the CMH relay on the '85 Runner is the same as the '84 truck's emission control relay. I suspect not.

The smaller fuses are the same, I think.

FWIW...

I have a chiltons for 84-86 pickup and 4runner for about $26 and it has a very good wirering diagram for what I need. Any autozone, O'rilleys, or even amizon will have it. I would scan and send you a copy of the diagram but I am in the middle of the Ocean hunting for pirates and terrorist.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say there are subtle differences between a 84' and 94' Toy
