I am getting a new alternator for my 88 stock v6. Im going up from the 60 amp alternator, which shorted out, to an 80 amp. I've found a compatible 80 amp on the '92 camry, lexus ES300. I mainly just want to know if anyone has a preference of knows more than I do about these.( All prices and part numbers are through Advance Auto Parts)
These three alternators use Nippondenso system.
That Powermaster alt is nearly a bolt-in on the 3.0 and 3.4 v6 engines. Its a good way to go.
Powermaster is good quality too. Each one is tested and tagged with its idle and max output. Notice that the "140A" rated alternator actually puts out quite a bit more than its rated output (160 max/88 idle).
Try your local John Deere dealership, 160 amp alt in the same casing as a Yota. Not sure of the part#, but for around 200 bones, plenty of juice.:smokin: I'll look into it!
Wonder about the diameter of the holes in the two-foot models 70/90/901 style. If it's the same as an alt for a 22RE, it might be easy to get a longer bolt and align the pully just by using washers or spacers.
I would not touch any Advanced Autoparts alternators! Or Checker, Kragen or Autozone unless you want to try 5 to get one that works for a little while!
That stuff is JUNK!
