I hope someone has an answer for this. when I shift into my lowest gear my rig works great. when i shift out of low my 2h 4h 4L locks up in neutral, any ideas? to fix i take the shifter off the case and use a large screwdriver to align the notches then replace shifter, from there it works fine. i dont understand why it is locking up..
I say you forgot to install either the shift spring and/or .3125 (5/16th) detent ball on the passengers side of the transfer case (High/Low fork). Then, with your case in 4WD Low Range, the High/Low shift rail would be free to move forward or rearward. Once the rail moves rearward, the shifter itself would fall out of the 2WD/4WD shift fork and it is very likely that it would not be able to find its way back into the slot on the fork.
You said that you have to use a large screw driver to realign the forks. How easily do the forks move?
when both cases are in low range, he takes the rear case out of low and into 4 high, when he does that the front case shifts to neutral on its own, as if they are tied together, i understand this is normal? but when he tries to then shift the front case to high range the rear one wont move. is there a shifting pattern for dual yota cases to avoid this problem? or is there something actualy wrong internally?

What happened here is when he assembled his Crawl Box onto his transfer case, he failed to trim apprx. 1/2" from the front of his transfer case's driver's side shift rail. With this rail untrimmed, it will interfere with the Crawl Box's driver's side shift rail when the Crawl Box is in Low Range and the Transfer case is in High Range.
He needs to pull just the transfer case off of the Crawl Box, shift it into High Range (2WD or 4WD does not matter), and note how far the driver's side shift rail is protruding from the front of the reduction housing. Place a rag over the shift hole and as much of the front of the case as possible, and take a cut off wheel and remove apprx. 1/2" from the front of this shift rail. Then clean up the metal shavings, reinstall the transfer case into the truck, enjoy Crawling :smokin:
it sounds like you guys have me pointed in the right direction. it sounds like i need to shave a 1/2 in. off the shift rail. it makes sense because the 2 shifters seem to be connected at certain shift points ie: when shifting out of crawl mode:smokin: i have not pulled the case yet and i dont know when i will get to it but when i have it fixed i'll let yall know....
