I just bought a 83' Pickup with a 22r. I am rebuilding the engine and putting a 268 cam, headers, and a new carb. I will be driving the pickup to school and for driving around town and out in the woods. I was wondering what your guys' opinion would be on to either put a weber 32/36 or a weber 38. Any experiences and suggestions please.
Sorry but I don't want to deal with the emmisions BS with the stock carb
I pretty much have the same setup, 268 cam, fresh rebuild, header and full exhaust. As of right now, I'm running the stock carb, but thinking about the 38. 32/36 will give you alot better mileage than the 38, from what I hear. 38 makes a noticeable difference in power. The stock one is better for inclines, but you can do some tricks to the weber to get it to run at high angles. This may not be a concern for you though. The stock one seems to be more reliable too.
I don't think you will be happy with a weber if you do any serious crawling. They just don't seem to be made for those sort of things. You would be better off using a stock carb and buying a header for more power IMO.
I run a 38 weber. I'd take it over a stock carb anyday. I'm still planning an efi swap in the end, though.
