What do you guys think of them, I bought a set for my 83, they are 4" lift springs, I noticed that the rears are a bit shorter than stock(I haven't built a cage/deck yet) so its got no weight on the rear but the shackle angle is pathetic its like this: \ instead of this: /. Im gonna move the shackle mounts forward a couple inches. The fronts seem fine, except again the shackle angle is inverted but seems to flex alright, not looking for anything crazy here. But yeah, Anyone run these springs? I cant drive the truck yet because I havnt got around to doing the clutch and brakes and the tires are pathetic anyway. I was originally gonna go with rears up front and chevies in the back.. probably will end up going that route or doing coils in the rear instead when I get more into wheeling, Just want to get this thing going soon and the procomps were cheap(used). Just wondering if anyone runs them, and if they will work alright for wheeling.
Hate to tell you this, but procomps absolutely suck.... I had them on my 82 for about 3 months (they were on it when i bought it) and thats about how long they took to bend and flatten out. Not to mention, they flex like crap and ride like a brick..I probably wouldve got a softer ride with my axle welded directly to my frame. You can try them out and see how you like them, but my advice would be to start saving for some marlins, all pros, or just keep an eye out for those chevies...
In the Jeep Community they are known as the crappiest springs you can get. They just l provide lift for ost people. Go with a better Company like Rubicon Express, Black Diamond or even better. BDS.

Syncros, I think you would have been better of waiting and doing the suspension you wanted instead of comprimising for what was available at the time, but that's just IMO.
Ive got a set on my 85, 4" procomp springs front and rear that the P O installed... they absolutely ride like like a fawkin bulldozer... one day Ill replace them with something better when its this trucks turn to become the trail ho... I added slightly longer shackles and it helped the ride a little bit but it still sucks...
had one guy break two main leavs at once on a set of procomps last weeked all he was doin was crawling down a hill and dropped off a little lege mabe a sloped 1-2 foot ledgeis all..
Im gonna wheel them haha, If they break.. well, il probably just laugh... and send pics to procomp to show them the quality of their junk :laughing: . I knew procomp wasnt the greatest but I thought, $100 for a set of Chevies and I have to go pull em from a rusty old chev(a feat in itself) gotta run blocks, and I cant bob my frame much with the chevs then on top of that I gotta buy shocks, also heard they aren't that great on first gens with flatdecks anyway. I got the Procomps with 4 shocks for $300 Canadian and its alot better than the 3" blocks and 3" Tuff country's I had in it before(sellin the front springs) Im gonna relocate the shackle mounts, rears 4.5" forward because right now they are totally inverted and if the fronts are unbearable il do them too The angle isnt much worse than stock. Ive seen a pic of a rig with them that flexes good enough for me(remember, im not hardcore into wheeling yet).. heres a pic of the truck im talking about:
Il post pics of mine when I get some tires and the tube deck/cage done. All I can see from this pic is the rears dont do shit which probably means the ass end is gonna be everywhere on gravel roads, maybe once I correct the shackle angle it will be o.k., who knows how they have them set up in that truck. Im afraid to remove any leafs from the packs because they are a bit thin but I wont have much weight on the back of my truck, probably be the wrap that would kill them though, maybe I could get away with some kind of trac bar and remove a leaf from each pack.
do you have the stock shackles on there? try a longer shackle before moving the mounts. it'll probably help your ride abit aswell. where on van isle are you?
Im near Duncan, Lots of wheelin out here!, but trust me, the rear shackles are completly inverted, it would ride/flex like crap regardless of the length of shackle, Forgot to mention the rear half of my frame is from an 86 so that doesn't help with the hanger/shackle eye to eye with these short ass springs.
Front shackles are just less than vertical, id say about stock angle, They are a little harder to deal with right now though, cant get the bolts out of the frame.
Another dude suggested I do a buggy leaf thing in the back since im relocating the shackle mount anyway, what are your guys' opinions on a buggy leaf set up? I think it seems like a decent idea but could easily screw me over on down hill sections like teraflex shackles would, Id built them with a pin to hold everything them in place when im on pavement/logging roads though, it would feel weird to stomp on the brakes and have the ass end of my truck lift way up.
If fixing the shackle angle helps these should work out for me as im not really hardcore into wheelin yet like ive said, by the pic I say fine, good enough for me, Im sure I can make it work better than that though. Its gonna be my DD too pretty soon but im not concerned on how it performs on the pavement!. If all else fails il try and tweak the springs, I have 2 sets of stock rears laying around too mess with, Id put them in the front but I just cant afford it right now, and its not high priority.. bushings, driveshaft, etc..) My priorities right now are building the tubedeck/cage, ordering a trail gear hi-steer kit, finding a used IFS box, doing a u-bolt flip, and finding some tires(33"-36")... Should drain my bank account for awhile.
