I thought it was just piston noise at first, but I let it warm up and it got way worse. I shut it off before it seized up.

I got another engine today and got it most of the way swapped out. The new motor came with a bunch of broken stuff so I had to swap everything over including the intake. It took me longer to do that than it did to pull the engine.

I am debating if I want to buy the bad one back as a core for $500. I might pull the caps and check the crank out.

I got the new engine all hooked up this morning and fired it up. This one sounds much better. typical piston slap when cold but sounds good when warm. Did a little bit of tuning on the megasquirt also.

The transgo valve body is acting up, not shifting from 1 to 2 at WOT and coming out of second. I guess this is a common problem with this kit. I may pull this valve body out and toss it in the trash and order a valve body from Jakes performance like I wanted to do before. The trans came with the trans go kit in it so I wanted to try it first.

Here is a little video of triple low.

I ordered a new valve body from Jakes Performance. It will be here next week, so in the meantime I started building the front bumper.

I'm not usually a fan of plate bumpers but that looks great on your runner!

My valvebody showed up so I got it installed and took it out today to do some tuning on the megasquirt. Engine is running pretty good. Still have a little more tweaking to do on it.

Found a little bank to play on.

So after a few trips out I quickly learned the lots of power and RUF's do not mix. I S shaped another pack. I added a few leafs for seven total and that did not help much, only made it very stiff. I still only have about 1.5" of up travel which really sucks. I also managed to tip the pinion up smashing the exhaust crossover and rounding the end of the 1350 yoke ears off due to not enough flex.

I though about linking the front but that still does not solve my no up travel problem. So after Mudfest next weekend I am stripping the entire 4runner and building a buggy. I have a pile of parts that just showed up this week and over 200 feet of 1.75" DOM laying there.

The body/frame, springs, bumper will be for sale after Mudfest. If somebody wants it make me a offer.

I will start a new thread in General on the "Boost buggy build" No more details till then.

Man, Probably a good thing you are cashing in your chips now on this thing and doing it how you want to from scratch. You go great work, and this has been one of my favorite threads to follow. Im sure your next build will be just as clean.

That was a wild ride, build, tear down, build, sell
The shell buyer purchased a bumper and got a free shell IMO.
