4.3 cpi & cmfi
whats the difference and who runs with them
same same, many call it CPI(Central Port Injection), some cal it CMFI(Central Multi-Point Fuel Injection). The later is what GM calls it, so that what it should be called by everyone, but they don't, and I dont know why.
Now I don't know this for a fact, this is just what I gathered from info I read, mostly from the GM manuals, that have no mention of CPI, but they call the '92-'95 Vortec 4.3 CMFI. And Howell calls that same engine CPI in their catalog, so I put the 2 together.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but i don't think I am.:D
Yeah, they're all the same in the Vortec family....just different initials!! The better one to get is the later on...'96 and newer due to the fact that the individual injector componets are replaceable where the early Vortecs, you have to replace the injector and pintles all at once for a few hundred bucks.
I started my '98 Vortec 4.3 install!!! Can't wait!!!
