i have a couple of 7mge questions for you, since i am about to throw one in my buggy within the next two weeks,
1. is there really an oiling issue with these motors, and if so did you do anything? i shimmed the pressure relief in the oil pump, so i don't know if that is really a fix. 2. did you have to hack together the wiring harness since this is a buggy, or do you still have most of the stock 22re stuff? i am going to essentially have to build the entire thing since i no longer have anything resembling a stock harness in my buggy. but i do have every plug, fuse block, and stitch of wire that i scavenged out of the junked supra when i pulled the motor. otherwise, any general tips on things that are secrets to this i would love to hear. chears. nice build.

If you're got a buggy, I'd just make my own chassis side harness that plugs into the engine harness like I did. Just for clarification, I used a Cressida 7mge so the wiring is a little different from the supra but here's what I did: I junked all of the truck harness (all of it: horn to tail lights) I kept the engine side of the 7m harness intact, cut the plugs to the computer on chassis side that left me about 5" of wire to work with, and then junked the rest of the 40lb mess. I used the following diagram to power up the computer. To keep the fuel pump working like stock (turning on while cranking, shutting off if you stall) I spliced after the EFI main relay, and used that wire to power the Circuit Opening Relay, and then the Fuel pump relay. Other than that, supply keyed +power to the injector and the ignitor, and momentary +power to the starter, it should work. ![]() ![]() The wiring diagram better illustrates how the three relays are tied to each other and and a couple of other things that need wiring: ![]() For the rest of the chassis wiring I'm just going to wire it myself. I got one of these to start with: ![]() I hope that helps, I got more wiring info if you want it, and I'll try looking for the complete wiring diagram that I made for my cressida harness. |

I was always taught that a good general rule of thumb for oil pressure is about 10 psi per 1k rpm....Just food for thought.

Sweet
Thanks Billy you the man![]() I picked up these today: ![]() ![]() So all in all, there's 32' of brake line going into the truck. I must say that if you're in Fresno, to check out Central Supply Compay; they've got just about every fitting you'd ever possibly need and they're awesome to work with. I also got the full hydro plumbed. I'll get pics when I get the brake lines in. |

I got the switch panel lay out done tonight:
![]() Pretty much the basics; Ign, fan over-ride, Acc, lights, dual winches , and room for expansion. I gonna throw the line lock and the proportioning valve down at the bottom as well. |

Brake lines are in:
![]() ![]() I added some 1" flat under the lines so that they won't get pinched by a rock. Also got the hydraulic lines finished for the steering and hydrobooster: ![]() ![]() So with that, I fired up the motor, and all the steering worked perfect. Only thing I still have to do with the steering is add a breather to the TG resevoir. I finished the layout of the switch panel by adding the master disconect, proportioning valve, and line lock: ![]() At this rate, I'm hoping to be able to drive here by the end of next week... at least around the parking lot

I ran into an issue with the hydrobooster; it was self applying the brakes. It turns out that you can't combine the return line from the hydrobooster with the return line from oribtal valve; the return pressure coming from the orbital is great enough to cause the hydrobooster to self apply the brakes. In know the toyota section is the last place where anyone is thinking hydroboost but here's some good info on proper hose routing:
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...t=hydrobooster And here's the hose routing that I followed: ![]() So I added a second return fitting to the TG resevoir: ![]() Inside I plugged the end of the fitting and drilled a hole at 90* to follow in the same flow direction as it came from TG It's getting even tighter under there: ![]() So after I got it all plumbed, I fired it up and the brakes worked. I also tried several combinations of steering and braking, and I don't experience (at least being static) no loss of steering power while braking. After steam cleaning up the oily mess that I had created, I thought I'd see how the rear flexed with the airshocks: ![]() It's dark, but you get the picture

![]() So it was a fun weekend. We started working at 6pm friday night and got her running at 7pm sunday and only managed about seven hours of sleep for the whole weekend. Friday started with what seemed like an endless task list: ![]() Me and Richard pretty much spent the entire night making the dash and pass side firewall-: ![]() There's also a cover plate that goes over the computer and all the wiring for the engine. Threw in some LED's: ![]() Saturday, I started some electrical work while richard got the front R&P installed. Later Shawn dropped by to help with the seat belts, and to work on the hood:

The space around the ECM got crowded really fast:
![]() ![]() All that wiring is only for the engine and the fans. I ran out of time; I still have to wire up all the lights, radios, and speakers. I threw all the big fuses down by the batteries: ![]() Interior all buttoned up getting ready for a test drive:
