I picked up a set of DCOE's recently and they are pretty dirty. Just your regular oil and such. I'm wondering if I can have some body hot tank it for me. I know I can spray and pressure wash it but I know that won't get everything off. Anybody have suggestions for getting these carbs real clean without harming them? Thanks
Best way to clean them is a bath in carb cleaner, not the sparay but the kind you get in a gallon can BUT you will have to dissasemble them first and rebuild them after. Hot tanks and carb cleaner baths are not gasket/seal friendly.
If you don't want to rebuild them then just hose them off with carb spray and use a toothbrush on the stubborn stuff.
Yep, these guys are right - don't hot tank 'em. A gallon container of carb cleaner is all they need. I got some old cruddy Delortos up and running with a simple rebuild kit and careful bench cleaning.
