steel not needed

Stick with the plastic guides. Steel guides are over priced and not needed. Think of it this way... BOTH plastic and steel guides will make noise when the chain or tensioner needs to be replaced. The timing chain will grind both the plastic and steel guides in small shavings... obviously neither plastic or steel shavings are good floating around your oil/engine. BUT I would rather take a chance with soft plastic shavings than engine stopping metal shavings...think about it?... also either type of guides will make noise when it time to change the timing set and both should be changed asap. so what are you gaining? Steel guides are a unneeded waste of money. Even *EB (engnbldr) admits they are not needed but he offers them because customers have asked for them. $80 for just steel guides? what a joke! Just buy an OSK timing kit from JFE and save your money.
That's this "Newbies" advice :flipoff2:
