Well I just built my 22 re motor and had a spare cam laying around I believe the size was a 282 into a completly bone stock motor would my cam cause my motor to run really rich and would it also play a part with the idle. Any info would be nice
You said 22re, so I will assume it is still fuel injected. You said the cam was "like a 282" so I will assume you mean duration and that you mean advertised duration and not @ .050" or something.
Impossible to say exactly what will affect your motor, but yeas, cams affect idle and as a GENERAL rule, fuel injected motors do not like long-duration, big overlap cams, they will mess with the MAF and such to make it run very poorly at low rpms. Shorter durations and wider lobe centers usually help.
A stock or mild cam woudl probably help your problem. Whatever that is...
