Well, after doing alittle homework, Iv found a vortec 4.3l V6 motor that I can play with for my 85 xtra cab. My question is how hard of a swap is this and has anyone done it before ? Pros Cons?
Also Im running 5 29's and a stock 5spd for running gear and is there something else I need to look into before I get all set to do this ?? Should I swap out or stay 22r?
yeah, there might be a couple people that swaped in a 4.3, but there no way you'll find any info on it. Why would you want to put a chevy engine in a toyota?:flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
Yeah, right, swap it in front of that manual, then 9 months later swap in an auto in place of the toy manual, then do a D44, then swap the toy Tcase.........
Dont let these guys break your spirit, newbie.
This swap has been done so many times, its got to be viable.
but do take their advice and learn how to search, theres a couple of weekends worth of reading on the subject.
I know... I'm planing on doing the same swap
'85 x-tra cab, '98 vortec, 700r4, dual t-cases, booty fab motor mounts
I'm getting ready to bolt my 4.3 in my '84 Extra cab.
I'm using:
'98 Vortec 4.3 225hp (computer is tweaked)
'88 TH700R4 Auto trans built with all GM updates
AA 700R4 to Toyota Tcase adapter.
AA Motor Mounts.
Toyota Radiator with inlet/outlets swapped.
This will bolt right in with no driveline modifications. I love it..this is the second one i have done now.
