Front bumper design.

I have been thinking about making a front bumper for my runner since I cannot find a tube bumper I like. This is roughly based off other designs I have seen and utilizing a trail gear winch plate. Nothing is to scale just getting a basic idea, I need a winch plate to take measurements to get everything scale. Just thought I would share my thoughts, ideas opinions welcome.

And obviously my cad skills bring the suck, just trying to get an idea.

Looks pretty good. There was somebody that build one similar to that for a 1st gen. I'll see if I can find it. I prefer the plate type over tube bumpers.

What are you looking to accomplish with your bumper? Not to bash the example you have as who hates a first gen yota but...

It has no built in lighting for markers, D-ring tabs, winch protection, flat bottom spots to grab with a hi-lift, etc.
It looks cool but lacks a lot of things I look for in a bumper.

Cardboard is our friend.
And if you haven't already bought the TG winch mount, check out Addicted Offroad's new one.
I don't know if he is selling them separate yet, but it would be worth asking.

It is based off of this winch mount, so some of your concerns would already be addressed, I just didn't include them in my drawing.

I say build it, send your designs to yourself via mail. So "The Man" doesn't have a valid argument when you go to sell it to a company and they try and sue your ass.

Not the new design. I haven't even figured out pricing on it yet. I can't even keep bumpers on the shelf let alone the new winch plates.Right now, I need every mount for a bumper, but have another order of them coming in soon.

FWIW, I believe we addressed all the issues with the previous winch mount design when we went to this new one. Its laser cut now, with 1/2" down supports, and integrated D-ring shackle mounts. Steel quality is hands down 100% better as well. No scale, no oil, no tweaked mounts from too much heat and welding, etc. It definitely makes for cleaner, better welds too IMO.

Damn, my bad Scotty. I read the thread too fast. Let us know when the new winch plate design is available separately and Im sure they will sell quickly.

This is the nicest tube bumper I have seen out there infact I was going to get this untill I started thinking about building one. I really like this mount looks way more beefy, any idea when you might have them forsale?

Mike.
