4.3 to 5.7 engine swap

looking at adding 2 cilinders to my toyota

here is the situation...I have my 84 toy that has a tbi 4.3\4L60E in it already and want to swap it out for a tbi 5.7.....What will i have to change? It has a 4l60e tranny in it already so i know it will bolt up.will i have to move the motor mounts? Will the 4.3 ecm work? how about the howel wiring harness? Just trying to figure out how much money it will take to do this..Im hoping all i will have to do is swap engines and move the radaitor foward...the only other thing i can think if will be exhaust...anyone tried this yet? any ideas?

ok..did alot of searching and it looks like i will have to move the motor mounts and it sounds like the wiring will work(might have to change a couple sensors)....the ecm will have to have a different chip in it or one out of a pickup with a 5.7/4L60E ..other then the exhaust and maybe radiator it will be an easy plug and play...should be cheap.....anybody got anything to add that i forgot about?...

guess my built 4.3 will be forsale if anyone is interested.

well having just finshed a 2003.4.3 in my truck Im betting there will be alot more work to do then what you said, why not get the wiring harness that came with the 5.7and contact howel Im betting the computer on the 5.7 is alot different then the one running the 4.3.Hell just going from 2002 to a 2003 engine the computer was different on the 4.3

Send a message via AIM to TBItoy
search 5.7 TBI s-10 swaps.

LOTS of people put the TBI 5.7 in s-10s that were orginally 4.3TBI, you are doing essentially the same thing.

I acutally researched "downsizing" my old truggy from a TBI 5.0 to a ~built~4.3.

You will have to move motor mounts, harness is identical, ecm will have to be changed (or reprogrammed with 5.7 PROM). That's about it.

thanks for the help tbitoy...thats what i was reading...alot of info on s-10 forums about this..and it seams real easy to me....plug in a 5.7 ecm and plug in the 4.3 harness to the 5.7....im sure there will be some little things but will be easy compared to going from the 22r to the 4.3..once i start this i will start a swap thread
