Yeah, you got a point...for the cab portion. What does the rest of the rig have to do with occupant protection? Guys run guards over every body line, protecting fenders and all. Too much unnecessary weight. So my opinion on exo cages makes me an idiot?

all my tubing is DOM 1 3/4" .120 wall. i really like the way it came out. everything is so tight to the cab.

here is my front bumper that ties in to the rest of the cage.

You're probably getting at something there. It also provides strength and bracing for the entire truck. I'm sure a full exo provides more protection than an internal cage. In any case, lets stop filling this nice thread with flames.

His name is Whizzy. Look him up. His rig now has a D60 rear with 9" outers and a 1 link suspension on coils. It is yoked.

here's a pic or 2 of mine. It was my first tube bending experience ( I used a JD2 Model 3, and the bending 101 instructions....for awhile).. I used CREW 1.5" .120 wall tube. I now wish i would have used DOM or something a little thicker (it has acquired a few dents since i have had it on). I guess it is just doing its job. It came out super tight to everything.....alot more so than i though it would have. I have rolled it on its side several times with no problems.....usually just for fun. One of my biggest problems was trying to find time to paint it. I did most of the cage in August, but didn't primer it till a few weeks ago, and painted it last week.....took awhile to clean the surface rust. And i somehow managed to get the fenders off still...that was surprising. There are still a few things i would like to add. It had a flat bed before, and I incorporated the cage into it, but as soon as i get the time and money to do a 1/4 elliptical rear, there will be a few changes.

shit, can't get the pic hosting to work. SO here is a link. sorry to inconvenience you.

My cage

Interesting how the rear tire stuffs right inside the tube. Seems like that could be a problem.
