you're going to need another transfer case in addition to what is already in your truck and a marlin dual t-case adapter and new front and rear driveshafts. start reading you won't make it long here if you want to be spoon fed the entire time.

edit:
i assumed you want dual transfer cases

you need dual cases. Go with a trailgear dual adapter with 23 spline than a 23 spline 4.7 gear kit for the back case. I dont mind to help someone. Theres a lot to learn bout this stuff an a man can only read so much before he goes crazy. Watch out postin your simple questions on here that we all can answer but might be confusin to you. These guys will eat you alive for askin such cause they dont wanna share there knowledge but yet they once had to ask questions to learn is what they forget.

Is your 88 a 4 cylinder or a V-6? Makes a difference on what it will cost.

I agree about getting confused on occasion with the information. There is TONS of info in the Toy Bible, but since it is converstaion posts referrenced, sometimes it is hard to get the exact answer you are looking for.

I don't think the guys on the board mind sharing their expertise, they just don't really like to repeat themselves over and over. Sometimes searching can be a pain though. I've searched many times for things just to find out that if I don't abreviate or call it by the proper term used by these knowledgeable gents, searching is almost useless.

Trail Gear sucks balls i would go with marlin or inchworm..and you dont HAVE to have 23 spline 21 spline would be alitlle bit cheaper...try hitting craigslist you can find complete setups dirt cheap all the time on there

I have literally beat the living shiz out of the set I have. This past Saturday I competed in the Mudbogs and pulled a launch that would scare a person with Dual Transmission setups. I put the truck in 2nd/3rd and wound it up to 5000rpms and just dumped the clutch. The 37" Irok's with 6lbs. started slinging dirt and mud as if there was SBC under the hood.
After the fact, the truck took it like a champ and yesturday drove 80 miles at 70mph to a jobsite and pulled 40' logs through the mtns. I was skidding logs on a job, pulling them up hill for decking and bucking........then drove it home on a windy gravel backroad as though it were a Score truck. I give no mercy to my truck.......

I have been doing everything in my imagination trying to break these trannies. I am not getting it done. Testing is being done on the setup and I promise that my truck has more miles and more abuse than anybody elses in the country. I am looking at just shy of 10,000 miles on the truck and had to replace the front tranny due to a rookie move i made early on in a setup that had a bad tranny to start with. read my thread.

I can honestly say that this setup works! As well as that, it is about as strong as a stocker dual case setup. I wouldn't go as far as to say that it will hold up like chromo outputs, but the economics of it all will say that anybody with a limited budget looking for an inchworm like setup should strongly consider this as an option.

$275.00 and you can crawl slower than Marlin's stocker duals setup by double.

$275.00 for the adapter kit, not the trans and shafts, but last I looked Marlin was $329.00 for there dual case adapter kit, no case or shafts plus you need R&P.....Yes still cheaper, by a long shot.

why are you yelling???
tall gears in R_P puts more stress on the t-case output too
who sells these for $275?
what trans will they adapt?
$79 is cheaper by a long shot?
extra t-case $100-150
what does a good trans cost? can't just slap in a sop so trans or it will blow up like happened to you.
don't you need to build a t-case mount then?

No yelling, just a slip of the keyboard.....
A used decent tranny is $150.00 but you have 3 to choose from so the availablity is out there. Any L, W, and G series 4x4 Toy tranny will work, 1979 through 1989 With a 22R /22re
I built crossmembers, but they are cheap ones. I built have like 1 hrs time and $15.00 in materials.
