I really dig Calico, not so much for the wheelin, but the exploring. I could spend weeks there wandering through all the mineshafts

For anybody who doesn't mind wheeling with us our Xterra club is doing a run there on the 17th-18th with camping and a bonfire on the night of the 16th. We are not an organized club per say, we just get together once a month to go play around somewhere and our runs are open to everbody. So if any of you really experienced wheelers would like to come out play with us you're more than welcome to join.

And for those that have been there and know what it's like yes we are planning on doing Odessa and Doran canyons. (minus the waterfall at the bottom of Doran)

Maybe someday after the SAS, lockers and 35's. But for right now it would be almost impossible without the almost exclusive use of the winch. I've made it up the entire rest of the trail though. The other cosideration is having the wife yell at me when I drop her DD into that big hole halfway up and take out the entire side of the truck. It gets used and scratched up, plastic torn off of it and all but she is still doesn't like bent sheet metal.

Would that be this Saturday? If so I may show up. The run my Xterra club is doing is next weekend. Meeting place is at camp rock in mule canyon on the 16th. I'll be there about 4:00 waiting for everone else to show up. If there's enough people interested (and we haven't started the ) then we'll probally do a night run down onto coyote lake bed at about 8:30-9:00. The wheeling will start Saturday around 9:00 a.m. The plans for the hard run that I'm leading (difficult for us X's anyways) is going to be down Doran canyon east, up Odessa, and then back down Doran West.
Sunday is more of a scenic route going out to the end of the earth overlooking coyote dry lake and then down around a couple of other mild trails to the lake bed for some goofing around. There is one other pass out there that if somebody wants to bring their bad ass rig out to try it your more than welcome. In a 1/4 mile length of trail it drops about 800 feet. Pretty gnarly IMHO. I'd love to see somebody do it but my truck is just not that capable.

No reservations required. Just show up and bring your own tent, food, beer, ect. If you have anymore questions about it you can PM or email me at allen.rose(nospam)@verizon.net.

A friend of mine just gave me a big book of trails of all difficulty in SoCal and there are tons of trails in that area. If my work schedule permits I'm in.

I'll be at the pizza hut tomorrow. Here's a pic of my truck so you can recognize me. I've got a lift on it now so it's just a little taller.

Anybody up for next weekend?

I've only been to Calico once, but it was fun. Odessa canyon is pretty fun, and the bottom or Doran is quite a challenge!

Well, that was the plan, but I had some spotters who are amused by carnage.
