Ok everybody, pack your bags, and your 4-by, its time to go wheeling!!!

Location: Central Coast of California (between santa barbara and monterey)

May 16th, 17th, 18th will be the SPRING THING campout out and fourwheeling extravanganza, Hosted by the San Luis Obispo 4 Wheel Drive Club. On Friday evening (5-9ish) May 16th, Myself and anyone else who wants to will meet at Highmountain campground and set-up camp. Then Saturday Morning at 0900 hrs we will all meet at the Pozo Ranger station (by the mouth of the road to garcia ridge) and we will go run the Pine Mountain Trail. At 1630 hrs its lunch time at the Ranger station where we will eat drink and be merry, with BBQ ( everyone should bring a side dish and their favorite beverage). Then its back to base camp at highmountain campground where anyone who all ready set up camp can relax and visit, while everyone else can set-up their tents etc... Then after dark at about 2000-2100 hrs we will leave camp for a night run on Garcia Ridge! Then its back to camp and a little sleep. On Sunday Morning Everyone who wants to can join us on a trip through the los-chichis on the way home. We will pack up camp BEFORE doing this run so it will be on the way home. We plan on leaving around 1000 hrs. The campground is roughly a 65 mile Round trip from Atascadero.

If you have anyquestions do not hesitate to email me back at abkin_rupert@hotmail.com

What is this place like? Pine Mountain Trail and Garcia Ridge? Is it technical big rock type crawling or small rock dirt trail driving? Let us know. Any pics of the place?

Mainly the driving is on rocky dirt roads, theres a couple places that you can rock crawl on that if you screw up its a long way down. theres a lot of brush on the trail which makes picking a line difficult sometimes.

Its a pretty basic trail, maybe a 3 (1-5) on the absolute hardest part, thats for Garcia Ridge the majority of the trail is a 1-2, Stock Trucks can make it, although if you have open diffs, you may need to take a line. On Pine mountain, theres more difficult places like the stairs (definitely need locker(s) for the stairs, or a tight LS). The hardest parts on this are about equal to a 3++ from what people say, but i havent been out there for a while. Los Chichis is a very fun run, not to difficult. This is mainly a fun weekend with some difficult parts for the big guys but the trails cater to the less than stellarly built rigs. I would recommend to come on out and have some fun...if nothing else, have a couple beers and eat some bbq meat.
