a day is plenty for uwharrie, it's nothing special. which way are you coming from on 49? you'll turn onto i think it's highway 109, just exit when you see signs towards troy/denton... head towards troy. you'll go 5 miles or so, you'll pass an amaco station on the right which is also known as the el dorado outpost. just past that, the entrance will be on your right to the forest. there is plenty of wilderness camping throughout the trail system, and 2 campsites i know of... baden lake and arrowhead. arrowhead is where most wheelers stay i think. i always stay on the rocky mountain loop trail. do a search on yahoo or somewhere, there are plenty of trail maps, etc. on there. also, when you get in the entrance there is an information area with maps and stuff.
