Southern Indiana guys!!!!

Interlake property to open for use Aug. 23
Interlake, one of only two Indiana Department of Natural Resources-owned properties that permit off-road vehicle (ORV) use, will officially open for year-round use Aug. 23.

The property, located in Warrick and Pike counties in southern Indiana, near Lynnville also can be used for horseback riding, mountain biking, boating, hiking, fishing, hunting, trapping dog training and other activities. Operating hours will be sunrise to sunset.

Property rules will be posted at four entrances:

South entrance (main entrance) - S.R. 68 (east of Lynnville)
North entrance - C.R. 1200 South (Pike County, south of Spurgeon)
West entrances - C.R. 1300 South (Pike-Warrick county line)
Clutter Road (Warrick County)
Parking is permitted along roadsides and at the Marion parking lot (adjacent to the north entrance road).

No on-site amenities will be offered at opening; however, a master planning process is in progress to identify opportunities for future property development. Public meetings on that subject will be announced soon.

Persons who visit Interlake are required to follow all DNR-property rules. Vehicles and horses are not permitted on marked reclaimed areas. Camping and open fires are prohibited. The Carry In/Carry Out trash policy is required. All off-road vehicles must be properly registered. Equestrians must comply with bridle tags rules. Interlake is for day-use only and is an at-your-own risk property.

Information about Interlake is at: www.in.gov/dnr/outdoor/2915.htm. Specific questions can be directed to Nila Armstrong at narmstrong@dnr.IN.gov or via phone at (317) 232-4029.

Delighted to see them opening this!
I am happy to see that the state now will have 2 OHV areas.
"unfortunately" it is 5.5 hrs from me here in the NE corner, but go, have fun, and let us know more about it!

Weps this park has huge potential.

Give us some time to fine tune some of the trails and cut new ones and it will be worth the drive......although we do have some pretty decent trails now.

anytime you want to check it out hit me up!!

btw the park is about 4000 ares!!! plenty of room to spread out and find somethingto do.

I heard of a place a few years ago that was near Spurgeon that people would go to play around, but had heard that it got shut down. Is this the same area that is now officialy open? If so, hopefully people will respect the land and wheel responsibly this go around. We will have to come down and go wheeling and bring the horses down sometime too.

Going to try like hell to be there on sunday hopefully my DNR tags show up by then...

Cop laughed at me today when he came for the vehicle inspection...he didn't even get the paper work out of the car... So tags for me are out of the question...

I have another option... Just one i'm not wanting to take

From what i've heard alot of the trails have already been created and marked. I think most new trails will be actually made by the people maintaining (no way in hell that's spelled right) the park.

There will be a group of us leaving around 8am or so on sunday if your up for going we'll probably meeting in corydon somewhere.

I am just finishing my build - - couple small things left - - pretty sure I can be ready by Sunday. What kind of wheelin' trip will this be. Would it be a good shake down run or do you guys keep it pretty hard core. Not that I don't like the hard core stuff but kinda want to see if thing is going to break in half first time out! It has been down since thanksgiving but its looking pretty sweet.
