Check your axles to see if the gears are spinning nicely. I'm assuming you were in 4 lo, so if an axle got bound up, the drivetrain torque would cause it to do this... but something would REALLY need to have been bound up. Could be the U-joints as well I suppose.

my assumption is lower gears in the front than the rear... it would not be the first white 89 jeep on 3/4 tons that had different gear ratios

This makes the most sense if there's no binding... but they're clearly not too too different if you don't have any issues on surfaces with less traction.

Jack it up front and rear and count tire rotations already.

did some work on it today, got the covers pulled and the milk drained out...

4.09s in the front
3.54s in the rear

rear drums have had it so we pulled the shafts and they're 16 spline!

so my to-do list is piling up haha

got the fuel tank pulled and started un-wiring the motor

looking for an HO head and intake and tb or a horseshoe intake would be sweet, if anyone has one layin around

You cant catch a break man! It would have been nice to pull out 35 spline shafts or have 5.13 gears when you cracked the diff covers but I dont think you are ever that lucky.

Hopefully the differnt gears have something to do with it running like crap in reverse...GUESS WE WILL NEVER KNOW!

The wiring harness is completely stripped, except for the fans, lights, starter, and alt

The rear axle is completely disassembled

And slipped in my first piece of bling

it was brought to my attention that in my life, I have owned 7 jeeps...

4 of them have had different ratios in either axle

and 2 of the 3 that didn't were completely stock

Looking through this thread (while at work lol) has brought back some memories! Word on the streets is he is remotivated!

I say we shoot for a new years day run!

Edit: I bought a house with a huge detached garage, heated, car lift, hoists and so on. Im trying to talk him into bringing it down so he dont have to work on it on a dirt floor with no lights!
