Thumbs up Offroaders raise more than $164,000 for MS

During the first 5 years of the event, Crawl 4 The Cure has raised more than $164,000 for Multiple Sclerosis! This year we hope to reach $200,000 and you can be a part it.

Registration is now open for the upcoming 2010 Crawl 4 The Cure in Gilbert, MN. This is a great event for a good cause so please consider coming. All the information and details can be found at our website

What is Crawl 4 The Cure?
Crawl 4 The Cure is a charitable event where offroad vehicle enthusiasts raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Minnesota Chapter. We welcome all makes and models of off-highway vehicles and encourage family and friends to join in. In exchange for collecting a very reasonable amount of donations participants receive:

•3 nights of camping
•2 dinners including a BBQ Friday night and a catered pig roast Saturday
•2 days of guided trail rides
•Raffle tickets for a chance to win awesome door prizes
•Goodie bag with cool stuff from our event sponsors
•An unforgettable weekend of fun and comaraderie with offroading enthusiasts looking to do something that truly makes a difference in the lives of deserving people!

Where Are The Trails?
The Crawl 4 the Cure is held in the town of Gilbert, Minnesota at the Iron Range Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Area, the state’s first public off-road park. The park consists of tight winding trails, large hill climbs, and difficult rock crawling gorges. The park has been used with great success for national events in the last year including Petersen’s 4Wheel & Off-Road’s Ultimate Adventure and a Jeep Jamboree.

The park offers all levels of trails, insuring everyone can have a fun, safe weekend while seeing what their vehicle can do. Whether your 4x4 is stock or highly modified, there is sure to be something for you. All trail rides' difficulty levels and recommended equipment will be clearly marked during check-in.

When Does It Happen?
This annual event takes place the third weekend in July. For 2010 the dates are Thursday, July 15th through Sunday, July 18th 2010 rain or shine!

Check-in takes place on Thursday. Trail Rides are on Friday and Saturday and checkout is on Sunday.

Thank you from all the members of TCOR and HTR 4x4!

This year's Crawl 4 The Cure on July 15-18 was an overwhelming success thanks to our our participants, sponsors, volunteers and supporters. When the men and women from Twin City Off Road (TCOR) and HTR 4x4 started planning for this event back in the fall of 2003 we never could have imagined that it would grow to be such a wonderful success raising more than $209,000 for the MS Society during the first 6 years. We put our heart and souls into planning and running the event and based on the money we have raised and the positive comments heard from this year's attendees, it is worth all the effort.

2010 proved to be a banner year for us with more than 81 registered vehicles and more than 220 people making the journey up to Gilbert for the long weekend. We had more first timers than ever including several out of staters. Phillipe and Kari LeBrun came all the way from Florida towing their unique mini-truck for a weekend of fun to support MS, a cause that is close to their hearts since Kari is battling the disease personally. Others came from Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota and obviously Minnesota. We saw rigs ranging from a 100% stock 2010 Jeep Liberty to full-on custom built rockcrawling tube buggies and everything in between. Some stayed in backpacking tents while others had expansive motorhomes or custom race trailers. A few even opted for the luxury of local hotels.

The weather was near perfect, and that made for a great weekend of trailriding, comraderie and fun for everyone. Spirits were high from the moment people pulled into the Sherwood Forest Campground and continued throughout the entire weekend. We got in two solid days of guided trailrides, a night run, a ladies ride, a poker run, 2 bbq dinners including a pig roast, a freshly grilled trail lunch, kids activities, a banquet with door prizes and a silent auction, a raffle Jeep giveaway and more! After the dust settled, approximately $45,000 was raised for the National Multiplie Sclerosis Society, Minnesota Chapter!

Thank you sponsors!

We want to give special thanks to our major cash sponsors for this year's Crawl, it is because of their generosity that we are able to put on such a world class event. This year's Platinum Sponsors were Dynotec, Minneapolis Auto Auction, Retrofoam of MN and Motors-N-More. We would love for you to patronize these business and show your support to them for stepping up showing support to the 4-wheeling community and the MS Society.

Other sponsors donated cash, $10,000 worth of door prizes, food, beer, silent auction items, and more. Businesses like Benna Ford, Lefty's Tent Rental, Lakeview Clinic, Coon Rapids Chrysler Jeep, Unique Dining Experiences, Iron Range Off Road, Rock Bottom Brewery, Asian Foods, Customs, Classics and Rods, 4 Wheel Drive Hardware, Dataworks, Edge Metal Works, Dunn Brothers Coffee of Zimmerman, Zimm City Embroidery and Iron Rock Off Road all get our thanks and appreciation for helping to make the event a success. The National Guard even had their event team on hand with a gigantic 60 foot long inflatable obstacle course and pedal race cars, all were a huge hit for kids and adults alike. Thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors!

For the past 4 years Dan McKeag from Burnsville Off Road has been instrumental in helping with the event as a sponsor with door prizes, auction items and most notably, with our Raffle Jeep. This year was no exception and in addition to thousands of dollars worth of merchandise for door prizes and the silent auction, Burnsville Off Road donated the 1997 Jeep Wrangler that we raffled off as well as all of the parts and labor to make it the fully custom rig that we gave away. The only non-Burnsville Off Road addition was the spray-in bedliner donated by LineX Pros in Arden Hills. You can bet that this year's winner, Michael Yarborough from Texas, will be more than pleased with his prize when he flies in to town next week to take delivery of it! Thanks to Burnsville Off Road we were able to sell close to $13,000 in raffle tickets with all that money going to the MS Society. Please show Dan your appreciation by looking to Burnsville Off Road for your next project.

We want to also give recognition to Pam and Walt Smith from Sherwood Forest Campground as well as the City of Gilbert for taking great care of us at the campground and all around town. Sherwood Forest has been the perfect home base for the Crawl over the past 6 years and the city of Gilbert's support has helped us pass even more money on to help fight MS through discounted rates for camping. The support of local businesses like Yo'R Mudders Place and Log Cabin Liquors makes us feel welcome and supported by the local community.

Another strong local advocate and supporter for the Crawl is "Funtime Bob" from Funtime Rental in Gilbert. Bob's enthusiasm, attitude and generosity go a long way in helping us run the event efficiently by loaning us his ATV's, inflatable bouncer, banquet supplies and more while ensuring that our guests are all well taken care of and entertained.

Award Winners

Hope Award Winner: Peter Clair
Peter raised more than $3,000 on his own to donate to the MS Society. Awesome!

Worst Broke Award Winner: Dave Lloyd
Dave broke and axle joint and then while being towed up a hill he managed to dislocate his finger when it got caught in his steering wheel. He is all patched up and has an award to show for this unlikely series of breaks.

Sportsman of the Year Award Winner: Jake Tilus
Jake is always lending a helping hand to others on and off the trail and his good natured attitude makes being around him a pleasure.

Best Engineered Award Winner: River Wranglers (the entire group)
The River Wranglers always have extremely well engineered and built rigs. They always try to do new and creative things with their rigs and the workmanship is impeccable.

Ladies Rock! Trailride Award Winners

All the ladies received a special edition pink Crawl 4 The Cure T-Shirt donated by Sergeant Richard Gorr and his wife Catherine from the National Guard.

No Whining Award Winner: LaRae Johnson
LaRea enjoyed everything she put the rig into, no matter how difficult the obstacle.

Ladies Rock Award Winner: Meghan Baxter
Meghan certainly didn't need help from her husband Brent as she worked her way through all the trails with ease and confidence.

Blow'n It Up Award: Julia Ward
At age 14, Julia turned this into the Growin-it-up Award after her Dad handed her the keys to the Jeep Unlimited and she never looked back! Julia rocked out on the trail.

Rockcrawl, walk, run or bike - It's all about finding a cure

Corey & her daughter Renee came from the MS Society to personally thank everyone at Saturday's banquet. The money that was raised will go directly toward helping people like Renee, a young lady living with MS, to help them fight the disease and improve the quality of life for anyone living with this terrible disease.

We have had lots of memorable moments up in Gilbert since our first event in the summer of 2004, but none can match the emotional finale we saw this year. Sergeant Gorr auctioned off a poster sized trailmap of the Iron Range Off Highway Vehicle Recreation Area with 100% of the proceeds going to the MS Society. Bidding began and soon escalated to $400 for this coveted prize. In the end Phillipe LeBrun picked up his bride Kari from her wheelchair to carry her to the front of the tent to claim what is perhaps the most expensive trailmap in the country! There was not a dry eye in the tent when everyone saw the pride and look of determination on Phillipe's face. It was truly what an event like Crawl 4 The Cure is all about.

Planning will begin soon for Crawl 4 The Cure 2011 so please consider joining us for it the 3rd weekend in July, 2011.
