Kaena Point NEEDS OUR HELP AGAIN!!!!!!!
I'm posting this for Mike
All Please read the article attached. The Hawaii 4x4 Association needs the support of all of you to fight the unjust attacks against all of us. While there are obviously some people that will go anywhere they want when they want, the only way to move forward as a partner with the state. Join our efforts and stay informed. Be the eyes and ears of our community. http://www.4x4association.org http://www.khon2.com/news/local/stor...oving-forward-... Mike Elliott Also from Mike: EMAIL SENT TO DLNR Please forward to the Chair of DLNR Mr. William Aila Mr. Aila, My name is Mike Elliott. I am the founder of the Hawaii 4x4 Association http://www.hawaii4x4association.org I worked with your predecessor Ms. Thielen on a number of projects. We are a group of 4 wheelers committed to safe responsible and legal 4x4 activities in the islands. I was surprised at the news story on KHON2 last night and the meetings that were held. There was no effort to reach out to anyone in the 4x4 community to provide input to your efforts. Approximately two years ago I submitted a detailed proposal to DLNR for mixed use of Kaena Point. Our organization would like to partner with DLNR to devise a responsible solution and provide the one thing that you cannot afford, labor. We have a number of people that would volunteer there time, effort and equipment to help with a project that developed a responsible use 4x4 area at Kaena Poiint on Oahu. I would like to schedule a meeting with you in the near future to discuss what the 4x4 community can do for you. Last edited by 89lc; 07-15-2011 at 10:04 PM. |

Whoever is running the Kaena Point "we own it" society will not give up until they have come up with every lie they can about off-roaders and saying it's Jeepers, etc who are tearing up Kaena Point and get everyone banned from enjoying the area. Yet it's the Hawaii 4x4 association and off-roaders they all call upon to remove the stolen vehicles that are abandoned at the point and to clean up areas well off of the main road because they dont have vehicles that can get out into those areas.
Wonder if off-roaders refuse to answer their call to clean up the areas and haul out the abandoned cars if they will go spend their money on off-road vehicles and do the work. Would be funny to see them get a ticket or be banned by DLNR from Kaena Point because they went "off-roading" on the trails!
