protest and rally
EVERY BODY IS NEEDED, PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT AND SHOW UP
Its OFFICIAL...The OHV Rally and Protest is on...with your help. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OHV Rally and Protest at the Placerville Fairgrounds Sunday August 26th Noon to 7:00PM [edit]FULLY FUNDED[/edit] Why protest...why give???? The loss of 2500 + miles of roads and trail should be enough to motivate everyone in the OHV community. I think it is time for a public protest of the Eldorado National Forest Service. Not protesting would say we don't care and god only knows what would happen next. So...this is a call to action. Get up off the couch, build a protest sign and for just 1/2 a day Sunday August 26 between 12:00 and 7:00, go to the Placerville fairgrounds. We'll direct you from there. Its time to make an effort and fight for our rights. We're just asking for 3 hours of your time. The time is now!! SPREAD THE WORD!! Event details: This event will not be a band of red-necks running amuck in Placerville. If that's your plan stay home. It will be structured and organized and done within the laws and the "Protest plan" I submitted to the police department. The good news is we are approved to protest in very visable locations...overpasses etc. Individuals must come to the fairgrounds first, get instructions on where and how to properly protest, then they will sign up with picture ID before they begin to protest. Absolutely no ALCOHOL or glass containers. This is a family friendly event. Arrive Noon Park, enter gate and head to the back Lawn...right by the gate Go to the protest sign up station and sign up for location and time. A picture ID will be required to be allowed to protest Move to the grouping station...groups of 10-20...lead set for each grp. Move to rules and guidelines/Marlon station...then leave for protest location Come back to the fairgrounds when your group is replaced by a new one and go to the tables scattered about...Maps A and D...Letter writing tables...petition table. We will have some bottled water, but no food so prepare accordingly I can't go public with specific locations of protest. There are 10 locations and they are all within the city limits. Driving a short distance will be required to get to some/most locations We'll wrap up protesting at 5:30 or 6:00 6:00 - 8:00 clean up General description of the Fairgrounds area we have... Its a flat lawn area with very little shade (See "Things to bring" below). We'll have 10 picnic tables, 5 Eight foot tables for sign ups and staff use, a very small stage and a PA system. Things to bring to the event: Eze Ups Camp/Lawn Chairs Food/Drinks/small coolers...ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL or GLASS Containers Sun Screen As many people as you can gather Groups will be asked to protest for around 2 hours (maybe a bit more...maybe a bit less based on turn out) and then return to the fairgrounds for letter writing, to receiver information about the closures in the DEIS, sign a petition and more that could come up between now and the event.
