Good hiking near Las Vegas

I want to find some new places to hike. Usually I go to Red Rock or Mt. Charleston, but I want to find a new trail. I haven't been around Mt. Charleston much, so if you know any awesome hikes there, let me know. For this weekend I'm looking to go on a shorter hike, maybe 5-6 hours tops to get there, hike, and come back. I am looking for a hike with good scenery; the greener, the better. I just want to discover some fun areas. All suggestions are appreciated!

You mean walk around, for 5 hours... By choice???? You know they invented the automobile 100 or so years ago?

Seriously, might be something out around boulder city. I don't know for sure

Ok what about a place that's good for wheeling and hiking?

/forum/usa-nevada/857759-devils-peak-jean-nv.html this might be a good run. I'm not sure about the hiking part though. Now that I think about it, there is a open clearing on the summit @ Potato Ridge that might have some good hiking. Its a fun trip to the summit, and there are some trees if I remember right. Here is a link to the area. http://www.vv4w.org/trails.asp?trail_id=2 This was linked from WWW.VV4W.ORG Just look for Potato Ridge in the list.

Thanks. I've been wheeling on Potato Ridge before, from the sounds of it. That one connects to the trail to Bridge Mountian, which is a super fun hike, so that's a good option.

You need to do the Gold Strike Hot Springs (NV side) and the White Rock Hot Springs (AZ side) below the dam. You must do these hikes before May because it will be too hot if you wait. The Bowl of Fire on the North Shore Road is also a must do.

Gingerbabe doesn't like hiking, she just likes to see guys hot and sweaty while they hike.

This is a great trail index around the valley. Go to Hidden Forest in Desert NWR just north of town. Perfect for what you want to do. Although I would wait until April for the snow to melt down.
