good place to buy a reman engine?

Where's a good place in town to pick up a reman'd 7.3l for a ferd? I'd prefer to simply grab a reman unit that I can drop in, since it's gonna be on a DD for my wife. I'm not really looking to do any work on this one - just swap engines and drop off my core .

Any recommendations?

Very cool, not gonna make H&B, its to much money, between fuel to tow up there, a camp site, and registration fees I cant go. Let me know when you finish the cj, We need to go wheeling!!!

NO!!! NVT is the WORST place in town to get anything. I seen them leave oil galley plugs out, so when the engine tries to start, it never has oil pressure and eats itself alive. Then, NVT will fail the warranty on it cause it was ran with no oil. Seen it on 3 different engines.

If you want a Reman engine, a long block, the best bet is Ford. It'll be pricey, but a good 7.3L will run for over 300k miles.

LKQ ( formerly GreenLeaf Recycling) sells late model takeouts, and could probably get you a good, used engine with a warranty. It won't be new, but a good used piece. 644-7722.

Well, the wife has nixed the idea of an engine right now unless I can pick it up for cheap. I'm torn between powerstroke and a cummins at the moment. Neither one is going in right away, so I can take some time and reman it myself. I'm thinking a 5.9 would be great, but at the same time, I've heard good things about the earlier (IDI?) 7.3. I need to post a build thread, and start getting some ideas around, I guess.

If you have had luck with them, then go for it. I'm staying away. I usually do my own stuff and have Fultz do the machine work.

LKQ has a 97' PSD DIT engine with 150k for $2600.
Also have a 92' IDI diesel with 150k for $2200.
They don't have a 12valve Cummins available now, but maybe could find you one.
