Good camping in northern NV?
My family is looking for a decent place to do some camping in NV, mid april. Not too cold at night and friendly for stock SUV's pulling small tent trailers. I will bring the dirt bikes if there is legal riding near by. Probably not my scout though.
Any suggestions?

Thanks guys. I meant north nv. We kinda looked at battle mtn area too. I know there is good dirt bike riding out there, but if we went to funny rocks, I would have to take my Scout.
Is the camping pretty good at funny rocks? Keep in mind, my folks dont really 'camp'. They roll into the KOA and set up They dont mind dry camping and have done it before(a lot) but it has to be worth it to them.

Me and my old lady went to this place called cave lake last year for trout fishing and to get out of the city. There is plenty of trails, mines, hikes and fishing was good cought my limit most days. They have wet camping near the lake and dry up the road at private camping spots. It was up by ely and was worth the trip. There is also a 4x4 club up in ely that i would contact if u wanted to bring the rig.

How out there do you want to be? Where are you coming from?
I live in Eureka, there's thousands of miles of trails here, lots of old mines, the pony express trail. You might consider camping some where near ruby lake April is iffy as far as camping in a pop up, heat would be nice. Currently the snow is non existant at lower elevations and I have about 4" in my yard at 6,500' that should be gone by the end of the weekend. If you need a snow report or some more ideas shoot me a pm.

Also if you want to be "out there" a ways soldier meadows & hotsprings is a cool area. There's a resort/bed & breakfast out there too, you can hook up your rv there too if you want they said. The meals at the resort btw aren't cheap but are great! There's a swimming pool size hotspring about 4' deep, and the highrock canyon trail is there too.

Plenty of hot springs in the area: Trona, Double Hot Springs, Black Rock HS, Alvord HS and a a couple others I've forgotten about. The Soldier Meadows Ranch is a great place to stay, here are the rates: http://www.soldiermeadows.com/html/rates.html About 60 miles north of Gerlach, just south of the Summit Lake indian reservation. Tons of places to ride. |
