Need Help Finding Trails in Las Vegas

I was hoping someone could direct me to some sort of a map or guide to the mountains and canyons around Las Vegas. Work brings me and a friend out next week and we are gonna rent a Jeep and get out but have no idea of any cool places to ride close to Vegas. I have found many places that will take us on a tour but the cheapest I have found is $155 per person for 4 hours. I can rent a JK for the day for $85. Can anyone help?

Check out vv4w.org, they have some pretty good trail descriptions and coordinates for trails. There's a nasty old road that leaves out of Red Rock Canyon and heads toward Pahrump. I don't know if I'd take a rental past the top, and down the other side, but there's a great little hike that leaves from the parking area at the top and you get some cool views.

Thank you for the help. I just got here and saw the mountains in snow and want to go there. It looks awesome up there. Would love to be able to come out here and try some of the hard stuff but am restricted to a rental. But would love to get up there anyway. I am at the Luxor and see mountains out the front of it and want to just head that way and see what happens. Is their a map that I can buy to guide me through there? Or somewhere up there? Gonna go up there Thursday either way.

CMPNS8N(?) i taking about the Potato Ridge trail. If you stay on the road, it's only rough in a couple of spots. If you run the wash, you'll need the insurance on that rental!

Take Charleston west out of town til you get to the Red Rock scenic loop, pay your $5 at the shack and take the one way road to Rocky Gap 4x4 road. It's a turn off with a parking area that people hike from. Thats the trailhead. Follow the road, fun switchbacks and some drops. The top might have some good snow on it after this weekend, so you can always turn around and come back the way you came. If you go thru to the other side, it drops you in a valley with alot of trees. Go down the hill and turn left(south) at the big Forest Service road. Follow this road to HWY 160 and turn left again(east). 160 will take you back into Vegas, all the way to Las Vegas Blvd if you want.

Awesome! Thank you very much for the info and I look forward to beating on the rental! I asked if i was a problem to get it dirty or muddy and they said they usually come back that way. Although it sounds like this one may come back with a little body damage!
