Are you guys aware of any of the 4x4 trails or 4x4 events from Cody WY to Red Lodge MT? I'm going to be up there the week before July 4Th and will be wheeling the Goose Lake trail out of Cook City, if its passable.

I'm not farmilar with Goose trail but there is the Morrison Jeep trail up in that area that runs from WY to the Beartooth pass. It might still have snow on it by the 4th.

It is a very tight SOB! You will be backing up some of the switchbacks even with a jeep. I am told that a LWB truck can't make it up there. If you end up going off on of those switchbacks you have a long time to think about your mustake before you hit the bottom.

Contact the Powel WY club or one of the Billings MT clubs for more info on the trails in that area.

Thanks for the info. You right about that area. I have wheeled up there before in August and there would still be snow fields to cross then. Goose Lake, up at Cook City is a hit or miss on July 4TH. I'm going to try it though.

If you guys come up with any more WY 4x4 events, feel free to contact me and I sure as hell will absolutely try to make it. I'll post up the events on my website too.
Thanks.

Great job getting donated land like that. I have been eyeballing lots of places like that in the Roundup, MT area, just haven't found a gear head yet that is into it. Liability! Is all I ever get. Who will be responsible for injury, yada, yada. You know the sound of that.
Anyway, wish I could come down, looks like an awesome start to a course.

Props to ya'll.....

thats a good question we actually have a release and waiver of liability and indemnity agreement.
which, keeps our butts covered. there are certin specs that each vehicle, depending on the class have to have. from roll bars, harness', to fire extinguishers, to the type of tires. and then each driver and spotter also have to have all safety equipment such as acceptable clothing, gloves, helmets, and no drinking ect.
and then there is also a release and waiver of liability and indemnity agreement which the town is having them sign.
both of the releases are legally binding contracts.

we are going to make this a fun weekend-but safety will be our #1 priority

blind monkey did a great job on the waivers. the city council was very impressed with the amount she covered. so dont be affraid to approch you local council and try to start your own comp. all they care about is covering there butts and all we care about is rock crawling. the bigger the better!!! did we mention the difficulty rating was 10!!!

Liability wavers just keep the dumb ones from thinking about suing you. We have them on all our regeration forms. But any good loyer can walk right over one and still get you. Insurance is what realy protects you...mostly because it gives them something alot more worth while to go after than what you have personaly. It ends up costing us 350$ per events (1400 for 4 events).

if you guy's can't make it to wheel come down and check it out.
for those of you who are interested, we are looking for some volunteers
to help with the event. everything from judges on the course, to course layout. if you are interested feel free to pm me.
me and mike will be there first thing thursday. if we get off early, wednesday night.
the guy's in superior picked us up some huge trophies- like 4' tall for 1st place and they look sweet! there are trophies for 1st,2nd and 3 place. i got 30 shirts made up and they will be ready for those of you who are going to compete! (thanks to mike) and i also got some local donations for some nice prizes. a huge thanks to 307rockdog and the family for their help! they have done an excellent job getting all of the volunteers lined out dumping rocks and knocking down the brush! and most of all for the land access!
hope to see some new faces out there!
we are planning on setting up camp on site. there is a ton of room so parking and camping should be no problem.
here are a few pic's from two weekends ago, after they knocked some sagebrush down and began to pile some rocks.
