But that's only because we are. I am assuming you aren't looking to join an 'ice cream social' type of club, right? We may not have the exact kind of wheeling you are used to - but we'll give it a shot!

You can find some trouble at Tuttle Creek (about three hours from Omaha) - even with a pretty capable buggy. There's a group down there from either Omaha or Lincoln almost every weekend. Beyond that, you're within 6-10 hours of tons of other great wheelin' for longer trips. Edit: If you are looking for an "ice cream social" kind of club, there are a couple of those around too.

Trying to sell something in this economy is SUCKS. I have had 5 people and one "group" try and buy it. Even dropped the price. No one can get approved for the loan. If I can't sell it by the middle of the summer I'm going to build a house on it and rent it out or maybe put a double wide on it and also rent it out. Everyone could get approved if it had a place to live on it. But land only loans need much better credit I guess.

Here's a few other overhead pics. The orange outline is the 13 acres I rent so really it's 23 total. The yellow is my land. Orange dots are well heads if you wanted to have horses or cattle. Plenty of water available. Well got a new pump last year. Shed has 220v. It's not the most air tight new shed. But it does the job. I had a bunch of boxes and cars stored there for over a year and they are just a little dusty. Cheapest 10+ acres with water and electricity in the county. One nice thing is the building. You can't buy land and just put a building up. You have 12 months to put a house on it after you get the building done. So it's unique. I'd build a big house on it if I could. But when the house burned down I needed a place to live until we settled with the insurance company and so we bought in town and now are stuck there. The house you see just below the shed is not there anymore. The only thing left is a small concrete pad and the cellar. I tore it down last year. |

Thanks man. They are stilling pushing me to go to Omaha but I just can't swallow it and go. Have a feeling I would be miserable without having the wheelin so close. What are attractions to Omaha. What is there to do.................

Check this out: http://www.visitomaha.com/ it has some info. If you like baseball the CWS is here. We have great concerts, the zoo, fairly low cost of living, low unemployment.
But if all you do is eat, sleep, work and wheel you wouldn't be happy. There is good wheeling within a days travel. Just not right here. IMHO I'd rather wheel some really good stuff like the black hills, colorado, disney OK, etc that wheel the same stuff every other weekend. But towing 8 hours to get to a really cool wheeling spot might not be your deal. We got 3rd for best cities to work and play. I have no idea what that means but here it is: http://finance.yahoo.com/real-estate...-Work-and-Play |

Acreage near a lake or just a house near a lake? What's your budget? REAL lakes are in short supply in Omaha so the houses that back up to them are relatively higher in price than say some place like Minneapolis where it's almost harder to find a house that doesn't back up to some kind of water.

Yeah, what does "lake" mean to you? Anything you can't put a 30ft outlaw on and go 80 mph isn't a lake to me. And we don't have that here at all. Not at all. The 2 lakes that are within commute distance are small and I doubt you could get on them for less than $300k+ Go here http://searchne.npdodge.com/index.cfm and check waterfront at the bottom. Bennington is just north of me but it's not a lake big enough to do anything on. I don't thing they allow boats at all. Here's a nice lot for $300k http://searchne.npdodge.com/index.cf...&npp=20&sr=121
We boat on the river most times. Or go to Lincoln for the weekend. It's 50 miles away. To get to a real big lake is again, a few hours tow.

I would look over in Iowa. The taxes are much much cheaper as well as car tabs and on and on and on.
I live in Iowa 15 minutes from Omaha. npdodge website has a map you can use to search there are a few places with ponds for sale in Iowa now. Lakes here are ponds. |
