S.C. PA, whos around?

Whats up? Looking to see who all is around the South Central PA area. Not too familiar with places to ride around here. Anyone local know some good trails? Im gearing up for winter and Id like to get out and play on the trails.

Hopefully this will go better than the clusterfuck you created over in General4x4...

yota hits the high points. I'm near Harrisburg and Rausch is where we go most of the time.

Lol, my buddy and I were doing light wheeling over at the gap but they kicked us out. We went late at night so as to avoid any training exercises but they didn't like that either. Funny thing is, there are no signs saying no trespassing so they couldn't fine us like they wanted to. I still need to get my truck road worthy before I take it off road. I have a set of 265/75R16 treadwright guard dog m/t's that need mounted yet, upper/ lower ball joint's and muffler back exhaust yet then I can take it for inspection. I'm hoping to have it expected by mid November. Right now I'm out of work and doing odd jobs for friend and family to get back on my feet. Most of the trails at the gap were dirt with ruts or steep climbs, made a few trails of our own as well but my buddy's Durango wasn't lifted so we had to watch clearances, plus he never wheeled before so he was nervous. I'll post some pics up when I get on the computer.

Stick to legitimate trails - we have enough problems with landowners without having more people where they shouldn't be...

Trust me, if we thought we shouldn't be there we wouldn't have been. We kept our eyes open for ANY kind of no trespass signs. There was nothing. We wouldn't have gone at all if his cousin hadn't told us to go there, and that it was legit ( his cousin is in the military and has been stationed at the gap). He said the trails he listed for us were civilian trails specifically for crawling around. By the looks of things it seemed legit. When we were stopped we explained the situation and apologized. They explained why they didn't want us on those trails and made it clear we understood, and wouldn't be back. I know its already difficult to find PA trails and definitely don't want to ruin anything for anyone. Next time I get a trail tip I'll be hunting down the land owner first before taking my friends word on it.

I'm in the Harrisburg/Hershey area but find little time to wheel between classes and work. Plus, I'm not originally from here so I don't know of ANY trails.

Hadn't heard of Blue Ridge Jeepers before either. Looks like you're down towards the Gettysburg/Chambersburg/Hagerstown area somewhere? The website didn't give any addresses that I saw.

Blue Mountain Jeep Alliance is up towards Allentown. PA Jeeps is down in York. JRU is in the Harrisburg area (meets just south of Hbg in Highspire), but the members are mainly in the Carlisle to Harrisburg to Lancaster swath.

I'm originally from Red Lion, PA, but haven't lived there since I graduated in '96. After being down in NC for the past 6 years I'm looking to move the family back to PA. Not exactly sure where yet, but will be close to York/Lancaster/Philly area. I've been checking out where I can take the '92 XJ and RC looks like a nice spot. Hopefully I can meet up with a few of you.

Most of us are from the SC PA region; Waynesboro, Greencastle, Chambersburg, Blue Ridge Summit, etc. but we also have a good many members from MD as well. We don't really have an official address yet; once we become incorporated and whatnot I'm sure that will change. We're open to all breeds of Jeeps, if anyone is interested you're more than welcome to come out.

Is there someplace you meet regularly? Or just get together to head to the trails?

We have meetings throughout the year, but we also do a good bit of wheeling and other activities like community service (trail cleanups, toys for tots, etc.). We've got a site where you can checkout what we're currently doing:

www.blueridgejeepers.org

Coming up now we've got a meeting coming up at the end of January, and a trip to Rausch in February. Things are a little slow now but as we head into late winter/early spring we'll be getting more events listed. Anyone that wants to come out is welcome. We're primarily a Jeep club, but we do have a member who drives a blazer so I'm sure anyone would be welcome, provided you don't mind a little ribbing.

I know this is a little bit old, but am interested in some of the local clubs. I am about 20 min. south of Rausch and interested in getting involved in a club or even starting one up once I return home for good (currently work out of Kuwait). My normal group of guys I wheel with went from around 8 to 2 so it would be nice to meet up with some locals to hit the trails with. Will look into the links and other clubs from the area as well. Any feedback on clubs you are involved with, or ones you used to associate with would be great!
I also am a trailer guy as my stuff isn't street legal so if some (like others I looked into) are streetable only let me know!

I'll be looking real soon as well. I just got back from Afghanistan. I am in NC still, but just had an interview in Hagerstown, MD and will hopefully be moving up that way in the next couple of weeks. I will either be living around Hagerstown or just across the border into PA around Waynesboro or Chambersburg. Can't wait to get back up North and be a Pensylvaniainian again.

We hit Rausch pretty frequently, especially in the warmer months. We were just up last weekend for a 101 class to teach some newbies, and I believe a few of us will be up again next weekend for the Eastern Jeep Safari. We have a good many that trailer their rigs up, so you certainly wouldn't be alone in that regards.

Many of our members are from Waynesboro and Chambersburg, so if you get back to the area you're more than welcome to come out and join us.

Thanks guys! I will be keeping in touch with you then. I won't be home for good until Feb. but will take my new buggy on it's first outting last weekend of April, and will be up for the first RCrocs event the weekend after that. Long break then as I'm back in Kuwait until Sept. and will be hitting Dixie run with the rest of the M&M Fab. family! Keep me updated if you think of it with what you have going on next spring! Will be looking for people to hit the trails with. Do you guys do any trips out of the area? Harlan or anything? Will be looking to get some guys together for those trips as well. Thanks again!

We haven't done too many trips out of the area, but the club hasn't been around for that long. The farthest we've gone thus far is out to Butler, PA to the Bantam show. There is definitely interest, we just haven't been organized long enough to hit anything further away.

Well maybe by the time I get back you guys will have thought about trips further away. If not and I get involved maybe things could be set up then (that's if you'll have me ) and get into some trips further away! Could you PM me a schedule for meetings or something? If you have a get together while I'm home at the end of the month I would love to stop in or meet up at Rausch and wheel with you guys.
