PASS THE WORD! "Persian Gulf Conflict Veterans' Benefit"
Hey people, some of you know some don't. I work for a state agency that provides benefits for Texas Veterans. I try to keep up with all veterans benefits just in case I'm asked. This was passed to me so I figured I'd post it here. I know there is a lot of people on this board that can help get the word out. If you know some one that served pass it on.
Thanks, Bryan COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF MILITARY AND VETERANS AFFAIRS OFFICE OF THE DEPUTY ADJUTANT GENERAL FOR VETERANS AFFAIRS POST OFFICE BOX 1109, HARRISBURG, PA 17108-1109 Persian Gulf Conflict Veterans' Benefit Program September 10, 2009 Dear Sir/Madam: Once again, we want to thank you for your service to our country. With the Persian Gulf Conflict Veterans' Benefit Program being only 15 months old, many of your fellow Persian Gulf Conflict Veterans have yet to apply for their benefit. As a successful recipient, we respectfully request your assistance locating active duty service members, national guard members, and veterans who may be eligible to receive the Persian Gulf Conflict Veterans' Benefit. Please consider sharing Persian Gulf Benefit information with fellow veterans by forwarding this email to friends, family or other acquaintances. If you have any contact with a veterans' "extended family", please help them by providing the following information. A basic overview of eligibility follows: . Veterans must submit an application requesting compensation from the Persian Gulf Conflict Veterans Benefit Program. Veterans must also submit supporting military documents with the application. Any individual who served in the U.S. Armed Forces, Reserve component or the Pennsylvania National Guard in the Persian Gulf Conflict during the period of Aug. 2, 1990 through Aug. 31, 1991 may be eligible. . Eligible veterans qualify for a one-time lump-sum payment that is calculated by multiplying $75 per month (maximum of $525) for the greater portion each month of active service in theater (dates of in-theater service must be documented on the DD214, or if in-theater dates were not recorded on DD214, other military records may provide dates served in-theater). A benefit of $5,000 may be awarded to a prisoner of war or certain family members of a veteran who died in active service or as a result of service-connected injury or disease. . The deadline for applying is Aug. 31, 2015. We hope that you will help us share details of the benefit with other service members or people who knew them while they served during Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Many of them may not be aware of the benefit. Details of the program are available at (www.persiangulfbonus.state.pa.us), or by calling the program's toll-free number 1-866-458-9182 (TTY1-866-835-8983 for the hearing impaired) or by sending us a letter at: Persian Gulf Conflict Veterans' Benefit Program Attn: CSRS PO Box 1109 Harrisburg, PA 17108-1109 The easiest way to help is to forward this email to other veterans, service members, and/or their respective family members. If you don't currently have an email address for their "extended family", please consider calling them. Thank you in advance for your help. Again, thank you for your dedicated service to our country. Sincerely, Beth Deck Persian Gulf Program Manager Office of Veterans Affairs Department of Military & Veteran Affairs |
