Carnegie Hill climbs? April 14-15th
Thinking about rollin g out Sat for a few hours to watch.
Email from Carnegie: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Carnegie Forever Keep Carnegie SVRA open! Help needed for Carnegie's First Family Please, please, please put some gas in the tank and drive out to carnegie on saturday and sunday april 14/15 to attend the Horne Family Hillclimb. These events have been the lifeblood of Carnegie for 25 years. Thousands of families and riders attend the events every year and most of the young competition riders from the area have gotten their professional start at these events. The climbs have been cancelled twice over the last 3 weeks because of the possibility of rain!! This new environmental restraint was not know until now and is causing financial hardships for all. The Horne family of Skip, Lynn and George, is the Carnegie family that has held the park together with their store and events for 25 years. They have been hit hard by the environmental pressure from the lawsuit that almost closed Carnegie. By attending the Hillclimb you support the park but more importantly you financially support the event and family that has been the focus of Carnegie OHV recreation. The Carnegie Forever Board of Directors have all worked for the event. If we loose these events we loose the heart of Carnegie. Because of recent rulings by the CA Water Boards, Carnegie is under a restriction to close the hills if we have .30 inches of rain. We will discuss this in our next bulletin and will have a meeting with the Water Boards on April 17 to find some alternatives to the new rain closure rules. Please come to the Hillclimb, see the open class 200 hp bikes, side by side races, kids classes, pit bike races, cycle shop displays, and enjoy the great food vendors. Supporting this Hillclimb supports our Carnegie Family and Carnegie history. Thank You.
