My mom just called me and said a chico state student fell over the falls. I guess he was getting his shirt wet and slipped in, then fell over the falls, but didnt die on impact, people said they saw him trying to grab rocks and slipped back in and never found him again. I guess when my mom was up there today she said there was search and rescue and a chopper but didnt find anything.

I heard about this but I couldn't imagine that he would survive the fall it's like 600 feet plus is it not? Anyways that must have been terrible to watch more terrible for him of course.

My mom just said that he did die going over the falls, he struggled to get back on land cause the current was strong it just took him really fast

From what my mom said, search and rescue said there is to much water flowing to get down there nd retrieve the body and it could be months before they do, which completly sucks ass for his family to have to wait that long

About 23 years ago some airforces guy were playing on the rocks above the falls jumping from side to side. One slipped, luckily he was pushed under a rock with a air space. It took us about a hour to put towls together and get him to grab the end. We were finally able to pull him out. He was with in 10 feet of going over.

people need to realize that standing on polished rocks on top of a 600 foot cliff isnt a good place to mess around. I have hiked up there numerous times and watched people letting there little kids get really close to going over, and watched several people slip and almost fall in.

I was hiking in Glacier National Park a few years ago and was talking to a ranger. I asked what the number one killer in the park was expecting bear or moose to be the answer. #1 was waterfalls- people slipping and falling- kills people every year. #2 was moose.

The thing about this place is there is a small pool area just above the falls when the water is low and when it comes to the begining of the drop to go over, it drops like 4feet into a small pool type thing then goes to the 600+ feet down. This guy tried had the worst luck and timing cause the water was roaring and he basically was thrown over the small pool cause the current was so strong.

I will try to find the pics i have of the falls from a couple years ago

thats terrible to hear. ive been to the fall and its massive. i cant imagine going over the edge let alone seeing it happen to someone else, that really sucks.

Having been up there to that spot I can't understand why anyone gets near that pool? It looks okay enough but it's way too close to the edge to be safe. One step out of place or just the wrong push of water and you're gone. Very sad this guy died. I hope people remember this and stay the heck away from that area. As inviting as it seems it's not worth it.
