Fresno 4x4 club has 7/24 listed as opening day on D/Ershim on their site, Dinkey Creek R/S says mid August. Can any of those fine gents actually working on the trail give me an accurate prediction? Feel free to PM if you prefer.

Forest service has put a date of 1 august.

As of last year Dusys opening date is August 1st. We went to their travel management meetings for about 5 years prior to that and fought them,but didn't get anywhere. Last year the date didn't matter because the snow didn't let us in that early anyway. But this year the trail could be open already and they wont open it because of the date. We did get some encouraging news at last nights club meeting though. The District Ranger wrote that opening trails when conditions allow makes more sense than a fixed date. This opens the door for user comments on the subject and I'm still waiting for an address to send comments to. I will pass that along when I have it.

If you're looking to plan a trip I would set a date of August 1st or later.

Thanks for the reply, called the R/S, lady said crews have 84 trees to remove and it may be open earlier so maybe they're open to using it when it's ready. I''ll be checking back since we have to go up earlier. If it's closed, we'll do Swamp and others and stay in town.

I want to get up there. I think august is when my buddy gets back from the coast gard.

a lot of us can't do Aug. If the FS doesn't grow a brain and go back to opening dates based on conditions, '07 will have been the last time I've run the trail.

Some people can and some can't(school year, vacations, etc) We go almost every year since the 1980's. Some years it works out, some it doesn't.

If they do open it for the last week of July I'll head up.

It wasn't a reference to this year,it will be a drawn out process like everything else with the Forest Service.

BTW,finished touching up the paint on the toilets just a while ago. So,painting is done. Two plus coats on everything.

My friend called the forest service and said it was open. If this is true we will head up next Thursday for our first time on this trail.

Their website still lists it as closed

I know the OHV manager wanted to open it,but still needed permission from his boss.

I just called the Prather Ranger Station and was told Dusy-Ershim is open. (559)855-5360

She said they wont change the website until Aug 1st because that's the official opening date.
