Other places to wheel other than fordyce&Con
We've been lookin for some other places to wheel, espeacially snow. I really don't like just drivin up some snowy paved road. I do like high speed, fully gettin it tho. ANyone know of a place to go, within distance. where tow rigs can park?
Anyone been to Fordyce lately, how is the road going into the lake from the cisco side? ALso i've heard of a couple places in that area accross the highway. PM me if you don't want "other" people knowin where it is... hehe....

High Lakes east of Paradise is good snow wheeling. There's already a ton of snow up there.

Brenda, if you guys are up for a drive, there is some awesome snow wheeling out of Chester. Unlike the High Lakes there are huge, cleared meadows where you can fully get it through 4' of powder. Some nice steep creek beds and typical mountain snow wheeling. I've heard there's some good spost on the West side of the valley, but have never been

Wilson - real nice - I would definetely be down, except the drive thing. we are going for a day run and would like to keep it a little shorter... we're trying to go on "National Hang Over Day" 1-1-07 ... but it may still be an option. Let me know what your plans are and what the hell you've been up too. I'm glad they got that whole "Wilson" thing figured out. Hit me up and shoot me some directions and i'll run it by the boys. Happy Trails! B~

There is about 2-3' @ Spring Valley as of almost a week ago. It's a fair amount, but there's usually more by this time of year and certainly more at lower elevations. For the past 3-4 years there's been about 2-3 feet @ Inskip for the New Years run.

B- I'll get back to you. In the past we've done a V-day run up in Chester with the wives and SO's. Not sure about this year, but we do plan to make at least one loop trip from the high lakes to Chester and back, for the streetable rigs.

Vertigo,
Winter funfest is Jan 12th-14th. I do not go on the runs but on Sunday the 14th We will be playing in the local river bed Greenhorn creek. It is right above Rollins lake and about 15 min from Colfax. There is usually about 500 vehicles out there from buggies to stock DD's. Lots of dirt bikes and quads. It is not very hard but lots of fun. We might go out on Saturday and camp for the night if the weather is good. We have Jeeps and Toyotas most full width and all running 37's-42's. JDunn

When you are going down "You Bet road" you will go over a bridge above the creek. On the other side of the bridge there is a poll off to the right were you can park. On the left there is a road to the gravel plant. You can park on the side of that as long as you are off of the road. Take that road threw the rock plant to the riverbed. (I talked to the owner and they do not care if we go threw as long as we go slow)
If that is all full keep going on the road it will split and you go left. It will then turn in to dirt road and split again go left. This road will take you to the riverbed up stream from the bridge. Park any ware on the dirt road you want lots of pullouts. Then keep going tell you hit the creek. There is also parking at the creek. If you go PM me we might go out on Saturday and camp. JDunn

High Lakes sucked this weekend. Wet, non-packing snow at the higher elevations, wasn't too bad down lower and in the trees. Far from ideal snow condiitons. Still better than sitting at home though!

Snow news in the highlakes area new years weekend sucked when deeper then 2-3 foot , it was like driving in powder sugar. As soon as you broke crust you were done. The rest of the jackasses didn't even make T-line/lotts lake turn off. But like Wilson said wheeling is still better then sitting at home.

IIRC pretty much right across the creek from where the road you take comes out there is room to park. I never cared for the way you take. To many assholes driving to fast on that road.

Anyone going to the snow this sunday (1-7-07)?. Kinda wanted to drag the wife out for a day snow trip. I figure something up 80 or 50, not too far? I've never done a snow trip around here, so figure there's no time like the present.
Travis..
