So I'm screwed.

I just got a letter from the City of Sacramento telling me that I have 14 days to move my K5 or they are going to tow it and fine me $690, plus whatever fees for storing it. I have no real options. I live in an older home with an one car garage that is too small to fit it in there. It doesn't run, nor has it in a few years. It was broken into a few years ago (hence when it stopped running) and the person did a lot of damage. I got it up and going, but it wouldn't stop overheating, so I parked it out of frustration.

Someone then broke into the truck again and did God only know what to things. The police wouldn't even come out to look at it. They told me to take it to them for prints. Well, if it ran don't ya think I would doing that, duh? But anyhow, I honestly can't fix it. I don't know what is fully wrong with it but suspect it's now mostly things from sitting. My hope was to get a different job and slowly save up money and fix it. But well, guess not now thanks to the code Nazi's.

So, I'm looking for a place to store my truck, and where I can have someone work on it and get it going again. I know the issues are probably now, wiring, carb, battery, seals/hoses/gaskets and brakes. Is there such a place out there where I can do this? Are there people on this board who do this type of thing? I found a storage place but they told me I can't work on my truck there if I moved it there. I'm willing to pay for the help. I'm willing to do the work with help. I just need an option. Any suggestions? Thanks.

where is the truck, i have a shop next to city limits showgirls, with a little space outside that is fenced in. I can give you some help to get it running so you could get it smogged and reg'd. I am sure i could help you find out why it is overheating. I would have to warn you of course of the drunken obnoxious dad that hangs out at the shop along with my little brothers.
I do work very often for a local test only smog shop (a really good friend) and can get it smogged , they are no pass no pay.

I live in Sacramento near Hiram Johnson High School if that helps. The truck is in my driveway in front/side of the house.

I can say, I know in just walking out there and doing a once over that I going to be doing some serious work on it. It's just sat for too long to not have issues simply from that. But I wouldn't refuse any help if you were willing to offer it. Oh and I don't get offended by much very easy, after all I do hang out on this board.

It is registed non-op. It doesn't run because of reasons stated above. I put other bills before I put fixing the truck because I thought it would be more responsible to save money when I was able too, then fix it, instead of fixing it now when I don't have the money. Guess I was wrong huh?

I'm sure a neighbor called. I know exactly what one. She just moved in and has already been rude to us all. I admit the truck isn't beautiful, but the windows aren't broken, the tires are't flat and it's not on the street itself. I keep my yard clean, I'm quiet and I treat people nice. I assumed this was enough, guess not. I was going to say something to her, but why bother? She'll probably keep making up things to harrass me. Once it's fixed, maybe I should get a new loud muffler and park in front of her house.

i had a lady turn me in for my brothers jeep, that was the same deal. it was broke but it wasnt on cinder blocks, and it was all one color. so wtf. the county put a tag on it telling me to get rid of it +the $300 fine, because it was illegal to have a car at your house for more than 24hrs that wasnt reg to you. so we complied and got rid of it. and now i leave my trailer in its place (full of trash) and to fuck with her i told her that she can put garbage on it any time she wants because i only take it to the dump when its full. and it far from full. since then she is tossin shit on it every day( i think she wants me to empty it) and when it gets empty i will put something else in its place , like a pinto or a pacer with flames spraypainted on it . that f-ing bitch.

you couldnt put some super small tires on it and roll it into the garage? Cut the roof off if you have to...then build a cage in its place later.

take the wheels off put it on rollers with absolutely no wheels on it and push it in the garage. Probably worth your investment.

I can't fully open the doors when it's in the garage it's so narrow. Plus it's too high, even with smaller tires because of the overall garage door frame height it won't fit. My house is about 57 years old I believe, and I guess at that time they felt midgets lived in the area so this was plenty. I thought about that, really I did a couple years ago, but I can't even work on it in there because there is no room.

I have a place to move it for now. I just need to get things in order then do it. My goal is by June to have it running again. I may just drive it around the block once a week, but it'll run and I can then continue to annoy my neighbor.

A guy named IceMan (Issaam), whom I am guessing some of you may know is letting me ditch it at his place, then help me work on it. So for now that is the plan. I'm super excited to get it going again because I had honestly given up on it. I may not be able to really wheel it much, but just driving it will be a start to at some point doing the stuff to it I want too.

BTW, thanks for the offers of help, if things come up I will take you guys up on them. Nice to know there's a group around like this. I'm not good with a wrench, but if I can ever help anyone out, I will do my best, just let me know.
