How bad is the "commute" from Ione/Amador county?
Taken from my other thread.
How bad is the commute to Sac area? From Ione? Jackson? Pioneer? While it says "48 miles" to Sac, how bad is that 48 miles? Basically looking to buy some land in the next couple of months or so in the Sac foothills type area. Amador county is one of the spots on the list. |

Everyone I know says it's an okay drive down until you hit the Rancho Murrieta area. Once you hit that you slow way down. I know if there is an accident, it takes forever if it closes down part of the road, but those aren't that frequent.

I live in Pine Grove and used to commute to Sac everyday, and as mentioned if there is an accident then you have to be patient. Now I commute everyday to Folsom and it is a lot shorter because it is just crossing Latrobe rd.

How much land you want and at what price range? Septic syetems out here are steep. And the water can be spoty. You are looking at around 20 -30 K for an average engineered type septic. The soil out here don't perk well. My neighbor just spent 35k looking for water on his parcel. He found it though. Check it all out well before you commit.
Good luck, Dan Add: Watch out for PG&E they will charge around 25-30 per foot for power. Power is not all over Amador county. Lot of people on solar out here. Last edited by Dan-; 02-24-2007 at 04:15 PM. |

Lots of good info so far. Thanks for some really specific info there Dan.
I'm looking to get at least an acre. Haven't gotten a price set since I'm still doing research ![]() Obviously, all the bonus fees do make a difference so that is being considered in addition to the cost of the land. |

If I don't get behind some moron crossing latrobe than I make it to East Bidwell in Folsom in 50 minutes. Sometimes the sac commute was up to 1:15. I really like living up here, but I am getting ready to move to Folsom for school.

One more thing to add.
http://www.sjbconsulting.net/sjb_con...oup__ab885.htm This may make some land real cheep! But hard to build on. On another note. It's worth it in the end. |

I Drive that way a couple times a week going to/from Sonora and Sac. I kind of like the drive from Ione to hwy. 16.(it is hwy 16 right?) After that its kind of a crap shoot as to how long it takes. Half the time it takes a good 45min to get down to Folsom blvd. from where Ione rd connects.
